Repair is a bit specialist unless something accessible. Saying that, I once repaired a rad with a 2p piece and a blob of epoxy. Short term, only lasted 8 years.
Sadly radiator specialists have largely disappeared, but you may find one fairly local.
Fans, I have always nipped the up. Spanners are usually sized so they apply the correct torque for the fixing when done up by hand.
Thanks for that, I did wonder if it was like that but wanted to check. I'll go and carry on.

Does anyone know how tight the cooling fan to crankshaft bolts should be please?

Can anyone confirm an engine number please . Is this a mk1 Vitesse engine HC3762E
Having done some checking up I think it is a mk1 . HC50001 onwards is a mk2.

How did you get the clearance if you moved the rack back again?
-
I'm still deciding what to do regarding the system. Does anyone have a standard exhaust manifold , in good condition, clean with not much rust and very good down pipe studs?
-
It was indeed that very car I saw on Sunday just gone. About a month ago there was a black and white one racing at the Historic Sports Car meeting as well.
It performed badly.

Does anyone have an recommendations for repairing and refurbishing a Vitesse radiator please
-
I had a look at a racing Vitesse at Mallory today. It had what looked like two three branch manifold's into two pipes . It seemed to fit ok. Don't know if the rack had been moved. But surely moving the rack to allow clearance for the steering column will cause other issues?

?? I thought you had a Vitesse Paul ??
I do yes. But surely you can have a Herald as well!
-
ok, thank you. I saw one in the classified section and thought 'oh do I need one of those?'
-
What does 13/60 refer to in relation to a Herald? I was at a classic night recently and this guy sort of turned his nose up and said 'Oh, it's a 13/60' when looking at a Herald.

Well, they say the price of gas is going up . So I thought of filling the wheelie bin with gas, taping the lid down and saving it for winter! lol.

I have now registered an account with James Paddock, thanks for the tip.

When I was rallying I had an auxilary fan just wired to a switch on the dash board . I use to switch it at the end of a stage for better cooling.
-
Thanks for that. Canley's and Paddock are new to me . I will look them up.

Rimmer's seem to get slated a little bit on here, why is that? I'm fairly new to the classic car scene. I have used Rimmer's a lot in the last year. OK they are not cheap but seem to have most of the parts I have been looking for and have dispatched them promptly.
-
Thanks Iain, I'll take a look at that.

I was thinking of fitting an electric fan as well. Demon Tweeks have a good range. I'm thinking for one thing they are safer, less chance of chopping your fingers off!
Also, it will save on wasted bhp. Not much granted, but every little helps.
-
Are the gaskets supplied by Rimmer's good quality?
-
Dare I say this but ......Rimmer's do exchange rads at a reasonably price.
-
Thanks for the information, very helpful. I looked on ebay last night and noticed that the Chinese one's I saw at £89 a few weeks ago are now priced at £229!
-
Right thanks. So, they don't sound as bad as some people make out. I did notice the welds were not all that pretty. Some of the alloy welders I have worked with in Aviation would laugh there socks off to be honest. But then again, this is going on a car not a jet engine. Honda Civic rad is something to check out as well.

Is it just me or is this show expensive?
