Pettifordo
Where is the best place to purchase the sealed beam headlight units ? Or am I best to upgrade to halogen ones ? If so where to buy those ?
johny
eBay do new sealed beam units at around 15pounds each but whether they fit and how good they are I dont know. Personally as other people cant see my beauty then I dont drive her at night, if at all possible, so have not felt the need to upgrade....
Clive
I would just buy halogens. So much easier to carry a spare bulb than a spare sealed beam (ie if you go into Europe) and they do give a better light. I know some people want to stay original, but unless teh sealed beams available are made by a quality manufacturer, I wouldn't bother with them. Likewise, I would only use proper branded H4 bulbs. AlanT
There are some that come with an additional side light bulb in the halogen unit. Quite nice as a safety daytime feature for these small cars. Did require a bit of new wiring when I did mine.
Wagger
The Heaadlampunits are common to most old british cars with 7 inch units. Motorcycles used them too. I have fitted Hella units from german cars. Use bulbs. Osram are a division od Phillips and I find these last well without blackening. H4's are available in various luminosities. Bulbs £5 upwards.
