AidanT
I have been reading up on this subject as I want to get my original wiper motor refurbished. The Haynes manual states that the car was fitted with a single speed motor but J Thomason guide to originality states a two speed. My toggle switch is also has three positions. Can anyone confirm it is in deed two speed? Part of the reason for the refurbishment is I only get one speed wherever the switch is Thanks Aidan
Colin Lindsay
GT6 Mk1 is indeed two speed. Check the wiring especially at the bullet connectors beside the motor, and of course make sure it's not just the switch that is faulty rather than the motor. AidanT
Thanks Colin. All my three way switches seem to be a little dodgy so I am hoping to replace the switch mechanisms with the help of Pete Lewis. I will also check the bullet connectors Thx Aidan

AidanT
Oh yes sorry just to add, can someone confirm how the motor comes out? I have in the back of my mind it comes out with the rack cable? Is there another way? Aidan
Pete Lewis
remove the tin plate gear cover , remove the circlip on the gear crank spindle you can (with wipers taken off) either now pull the rack out or lift it away from the slide chamber , just put a rimmers rack in the 2000 and the blasted hole in the rack is to small for the crank pin, Grrr out with the drill and its 0.295" dia what drill !!!! 7,5mm is a easy fit. we should have stripped it down on your tappet visit Pete
Colin Lindsay
Some suppliers sell Mini racks as a 'one size fits all' replacement, which they aren't..... some of them DO require slight modification.

AidanT
Hi, Talked with a Steve Hunt on this describing the symptoms of the slow speed. He said that that "If a speed is slow that would be the field coil" So i think I am back to Re-Wind I'm afraid Aidan
