69herald
I have a 69 herald, noticed today that the temperature gauge isn't working . I know it was cold out today but normally temperature gauge moves off of the C, after about 10 minutes, however after about 30 minutes no movement. Would this be as simple as a faulty or broken thermostat?
SpitFire6
Hi, You need to drive it a bit more maybe? Remove wire from sensor and connect to ground to do a quick test to show the gauge and power supply is working OK. A shorted temperature sensor should show over 100% on gauge. Cheers, Iain. sulzerman
Hi I would first check the wire to the sensor on the thermostat housing is connected and in good condition, then if no joy replace the sensor. Also check the connections on rear of gauge are tight and in good condition. If the thermostat is stuck shut the engine would overheat. If stuck open the car will never warm up. You could test this by removing and suspending with string in a boiling pan of water it should open. Hope this helps
