johny
Im repairing the holes in the Vitesse block front alloy bridge piece (again) that the front two sump bolts go into and looking up the holes I can see the front main bearing cap. This means the holes are open to the oil of the sump but only have spring washers so are bound to leak! Im replacing them with thin copper sealing washers as I think Triumph got this design wrong😳
Pete Lewis
have the holes broken through from previous too long/over tightend screws the bridge has the short bolts of the two lengths used a good coat of sealant and you copper washer idea sounds fine if stripped are yo upping the bolt diameter ?? to repair in needed ? johny
No, I think all sealing blocks are the same even the replacement steel ones. You can see the two inner holes here for the sump fixing and theyre definitely open. I went M10, one of which has failed again, so now successfully helicoiled with sump in place to still take M10 allen socket head bolt. However if anyone finds this area wet it could be coming from these fixings if not sealed...
Colin Lindsay
Even the remanufactured versions are the same, but I'd reckon a good bolt and gasket won't see too many leaks; however an old banana-shaped sealing block will leak like billy-o. johny
Yes I dont have that much leak just gradually collects so could be coming down bolt threads...
