Extra Long Wheel Studs for J Brown Minilite Vitesse 1600/6

Recommended Posts

Hi!  There are a set of 16 x Wheel Studs on Ebay by a Company MPS Trading ( Part No CPL9037L) stating they will fit my Vitesse which has Drums on rear and Discs on Front? Has anyone dealt with these at all?  They are M12 x 1.5 OEM 45mm.  They are Half the price of Canley £64 and Rimmer £68 for the 16?

Many Thanks

i dont know them but they should be ok  LR are the general cheapest studs

its not unusual for the head of the stud to just litch on the hub register  and a quick whiz with a file or grinder to just lightly chamfer the stud head contact point

if you want to stick to triumph then TR /2ksaloon studs work  and you keep to a unified thread 7/16"

Well!  I found a company JBW Wheels where my original Minilites where purchased and asked if they did either 21H5774xl or 158729X to which the replay was "Yes"!  As I asked if they where the correct ones for the Vitesse as they had Herald Brake gear!  So I ordered x 16 and they where delivered.  I drove down to Cardiff to drop them off to the Engineer who was fitting them.  I then left for home and after a day or two had a phone call stating that the new Studs did not fit correctly and was told that they where 0.006 mm to big to slot into the hubs.  Too add to this, the splines would only fit in so far as the extension at the Head of the Xl Stud had approximately 1/2" sticking out!

I rang JBW and was told that there cannot be anything wrong with them? as they had made a lot of them and although they had not sold any for a Triumph Vitesse, they had sold them for Spitfires,Heralds and GT6s? (they have only been manufacturing Triumph Studs for 4 Months? So I was told??)  I asked for a refund as obviously the XL Studs looked different from the 158729 original short version? See Attached!   (They were very quick on refunding me the money!  Just be careful !)
