Waynebaby
Hi All, Just fitted a Club Shop fettled cylinder head to my Mk3 GT6 and the car started straight away (phew) Apart from the usual tightening of coolant hose clips the first 50 miles have been gratifyingly uneventful. I wonder if someone out there knows how many miles I should do before re-torquing the head studs? Regards Wayne
GFL
500 Miles seems to ring a bell?
Pete Lewis
Sounds a plan, always back off the nut 1/2 a turn before retorquring or the sticktion will give a false reading pete
Steve C
And then check the valve clearances! Steve C
Darren Groves
There's a school of thought that the re-torque should be done after just one or two cycles of the engine being run up to operating temperature, then being allowed to cool. The last time I done it after around 100 miles, then again after a further 200 or so.
