Fuel quantity sender gasket

my vitesses 6 has got a lock ring sender type fuel tank but someone in the past has cut down and fitted a 6 hole sender. All was ok till i took the sender out to clean the tank, now i cant stop it leaking!

I can only find gaskets listed for the 6 hole senders, what did the lock ring senders use to seal them?

GT6 has a lock ring on the sender unit and one thing I do know, once you take the sender off the you can't re-use the old gasket it will ALWAYS leak.

On a Vit6 its had a replacement tank fitted with a bayonet ring fitting , cutting a 6 hole down to drop inside and use a std later sealing ring is a common approach , you wont get a sender with a bayonet to suit the moving iron gauges of the vit6 so a cut down 6 hole is the only way

Interestingly enough it has a stabilised sender and gauge, I've just added a voltage stabiliser to make it read correctly!!

If stabilised has been fitted then a std bayonet sender will work , if you feel you need to change it

 

otherwise just a new seal gasket ring will work unless to much has been trimmed off the 6 hole
