Hi, was wondering if you could you change the thrust washers in situ on a 1500 spit engine???

                       Yes no problem they are the same poor design as the TR6 mains and big ends can also be done.

 

If the aluminium(monkey metal type) sealing block is not in perfect order get one one the steel ones from the TSSC

I take you remove the lower bearing journel, replace the washers and refit??

         Yes that's about it, you just need to measure which size you need to get the correct clearance

the whole range can be done 'in car' the only variable is on some you need to angle, fiddle , raise engine , shift rack etc  to get the pan to clear the oil pump 

and strainer,

 

         as said important to measure the float and compare with whats fitted to get the right thickness , 

             make sure you mark the bearing cap so you keep it the same way round .
