Fuel Tank Sender Sealant

Having resprayed my fuel tank as part of the restoration of the boot area on my Herald, I need to reinstall the fuel gauge sender unit.

Mine is the type with the 6 screws holding it in, and has a cork gasket sandwiched between the sender unit and the tank itself.

Having consulted the WSM a sealant is recommended, however I tried a couple of auto factors today and couldn't find a sealant that was fuel proof.

Can anyone recommend a suitable sealant?

Hylomar Blue should do the job, here is the spec:

• Thread sealing, gas turbines, water-cooled generators, turbo vacuum systems and any machined flange

Hylomar Blue is the new Red Hermatite. I've used HB, it's as good as RH, which is still available, if you look for it.

Used Blue Hylomar on the Sender Gasket on my TR, no leaks?

If a name is any comfort, a red (semihardening) and blue (nonhardening) sealant is marketed under the "GasTite" brand.

Eurocar stock it, as may many other suppliers.
