Gadgetman
On a 1600 I can’t find any arrow on the piston top to show which way is forwards, I assume the Gideon pin isn’t offset on these engines? also with a split skirt piston which way round do they go, split towards or away from the cam? Pete Lewis
The triumph manuals all suggest there is a imprinted arror to show front , not much other detail very helpful Good old autobooks does show the split skirt as being on the same side as the offset bearing cap to fit gudgeon pins put piston in bucket of hot water pin should enter with finger pressure unless they have pressed in pins then more load is required Do make sure any circlips are really fully seated pete
Nick Jones
2L engines have no offset and no piston markings but the 2.5 engines do have offset and pistons are marked. Don't know about the 1600 I'm afraid...... Nick
