Ian Faulds
hi during my resto of my late gt6, i found this, you have to wonder why. it looks like its been cut out then welded back in again as the paint is origonal , if so why was it cut out? strange, its a good full weld just wonder why. Unkel Kunkel
Mmmn.. Could this section have maybe sustained some sort of damage so that it was replaced ? If it seems “ original” either in production / assembly slipped off a jig. ? or if it was later, could a disintegrating u/j or loose drive shaft have caused damage.. Don’t know ! Ian Faulds
I thought that about production damage. I used to work for a car manufacturer and these days a damaged car to that levelis used as a pool car. But in the 70s they probably would fix it. Come to think it was made in Oct 72 but not shipped out until June 73. But on saying that I'm pretty sure this isn't the original body for the car as its magenta origoally and it should be pimento. Colin Lindsay
Looks like a PO-added section; it's a usual spot for rust due to road dirt and moisture thrown up during driving. I doubt that even in the bad days of 1970s quality control that they'd have sold that to anyone.
