Paul Amey Posted February 20, 2021 Report Posted February 20, 2021 I removed the oil filter and then the filter conversion housing on my Vitesse mk1 2.0 litre by unscrewing the large centre bolt. The next day I found a flat, lugged fitting on the floor under the engine which has a thread in it that fits the bolt . I am guessing this lugged washer screws on to the bolt and over the spring assembly (I could be wrong) and tensions it. If this is the case does anyone know how much tension to apply ? Is this achieved by adjusting how far down the bolt the lug goes? Kind regards Paul
thescrapman Posted February 21, 2021 Report Posted February 21, 2021 There should be a gap in the thread on the bolt, and the winged thingy goes in that, so it floats and applies the correct tension to the centre spring loaded seal in the housing.
68vitesse Posted February 21, 2021 Report Posted February 21, 2021 One I bought a good many years ago and never fitted, box has a pickdate of 02/08/06, measured the thread length above the fitting as 17.7mm. Regards Paul.
Paul Amey Posted February 21, 2021 Author Report Posted February 21, 2021 Brilliant , thanks both of you. The photo is really helpful Paul
