  1. I had to remove the electric washer bottle to get access to feed in a new Speedo drive . Good job I did as the joint where the pump fits the bottle was leaking . Now I know why the bottle needed regularly topping up . Repaired with ptfe tape . It’s just a push fit so worth checking

  2. UPDATE

Speedo cable out and it’s seized so replacing with GSD115 which is about 4cms longer so should be no issues with refit . Does the new cable need oiling ? I do have graphite powder

The right angle drive . Can’t find this in the manual . Does this need any maintenance whilst I got access . What’s the small screw for please .

I went to see work in progress today and a bare metal respray is £7k. Probably worth doing because I'll be long dead before it needs doing again!

Where in Suffolk do you live . I live in Pakenham just outside of Bury St Edmunds

So if you push the inner fully into the cable it engages at the gearbox end and then wont turn? You could do this and drive the car to see if the inner spins - if so could be a faulty speedo...

Checked the Speedo with a spare cable and drill and it’s ok

Should undo from speedo but may need acrobatics in the footwell and some long nose pliers? Saying that theres a good chance the cable or angle drive have failed...

Thanks , long nose pliers worked and Speedo out . The inner cable is not chewed so guess the issue is at the gearbox end . How I love removing the gearbox cover !

  6. Speedo in my Vitesse has stopped working . It has been wavering for some time though . I’ve loosened the speedo , removed the wires . I cant undo the speedo so assuming I need to remove the gearbox cover, undo the connector ( I have overdrive) to give enough slack to get access to the back of the speedo

Need to order a few bits to work on the herald, normally pop in to fitchetts or paddocks when we visit family, however this time I need to have the stuff delivered, I’ve found MeV spares who’s prices look extremely competitive or Ang spares (eBay) any comments re quality?

I’ve used MeV a few times and can recommend

Ha yes you need to wire in a USB socket in the car. What has happened to the plug on the end of the camera cable?

The usb plugged into the camera is too short so the cable shown is an extension. USB cable

yes USB connection is white and green for data, which for a stand alone camera shouldnt be necessary, while red and black are +ve and -ve 5 volt respectively...

Thanks for info . I was going to connect red and black cables to 12volts . Is this correct ?

  10. Yes it looks like you have an Accuspark electronic ignition , same as I’ve fitted to my Vitesse , though I do carry a spare set of points should it fail . You also have Accuspark marked on your plug leads
