  1. Disconnected brown and no Change ie no ignition light Paul
  2. Currently the thick brown / yellow from the alternator is connected to the 3 thick brown cables from the old regulator box using a copper shunt which has 3 male spades . If I detach the brown yellow from the shunt and connect to the brown yellow from the ignition light and turn on ignition the light doesn’t not come on Paul
  3. Plain brown goes direct to positive terminal on battery Paul
  4. Hi Johnny . I switched back the white to +VE on the coil . The alternator now charges with no ignition light . I’m left with a thin Brown / Yellow from the ignition light with no home . Where should this go now . Paul
  5. Hi Colin, the bulb housing looks like it’s made of Bakelite Paul
  6. I think I have solved the issue , I removed the alternator connection to the coil +VE and connected to Brown/Green which originally went to the old dynamo . The Brown Green is linked to Brown Yellow which goes to the ignition bulb . With ignition on it light but stayed on with the engine running at 2000 revs plus. The Volt meter showed no charge and hovered around 12V. Checked the output from the alternator and zero so I must have fried the internal regulator with multi testing😱. Now looking for a replacement regulator for the Denso. Coming back to the original wiring I have to accept it was incorrect wiring when I installed the Denso and linking to the coil was incorrect and that the Ignition light has never worked . My sincere apologies to all who have persevered with solving my issue in particular @johny and @Pete Lewis. Hopefully the replacement regulator with sort the issue and should the alternator misbehave itself in the future I’ve got a “worry” light which works . Apologies again to all who helped . Paul
  7. The Speedo case has plastic holders for ignition , oil and main beam so no earth Paul
  8. The 3 plug connections on the alternator are left . Brown . Dedicated feed to positive on battery middle. White . + VE side of Coil right . Thick brown yellow Paul
  9. Put a temp connection with brown yellow ( from bulb) to large brown yellow. Result was ignition light came on plus some ancillaries eg dash cam . Using key turned to position 1 ( ie no starter ) Result. Oil light came on and ignition light went off. Paul
  10. Tracked the brown/green in the loom and still has spade for the original dynamo . Should I make a temp connection with the brown/green to the large diameter brown / yellow cable which feeds the alternator ? Confirming there is continuity through to ignition bulb Paul
  11. I don’t think it could earth as the ignition housing on the Speedo is plastic , so the issue must be the brown/ yellow cable so going see where it terminates . Should be close to alternator Thanks for everybody’s help so far - appreciated Paul
  12. Still can’t work out what’s wrong . Ive got the correct bulb ie brown / yellow and white cable . The NY cable is linked to NG and this cables terminates close to the alternator but not attached to anything . You mentioned linking the NY to D . I tried to temp link with NY to the Denso and the only exposed cable was the output at the top ( this links direct to the battery with a 30 amp cable ) When testing I always run a low amp fuse which blew as soon as I flicked the ignition . The ignition light when earthed will light up on ignition but stay on with the engine running. The alternator is charging . As mentioned before the ignition system has operated for the last 2,000 miles but not since I removed and replaced the Speedo cable Paul
  13. I’ll try this but what I don’t understand is what I’ve done is take out the Speedo and put it back . Before the ignition bulb has worked for years without issue Paul
  14. On the Speedo the ignition light plus the Head lamp flash and oil light bulbs are housed in plastic so they are not earthed Paul
  15. I have tried both filament and LED Paul
  16. Bulb is ok. Brown/Yellow traces back to old defunct regulator which in turn is connected Brown/Green which is terminated as no longer in use with the Denso so can’t understand what this cable does ? . Car starts fine though no ignition light unless it touched earth and then stays on . Alternator is charging as battery check says 14.1 Paul
  17. I’ve upgraded to an Alternator though nearly 2 years ago . I’ll check the brown/yellow cable Paul
  18. Vitesse mk2 , Speedo has been out to change Speedo cable . Everything back BUT ignition light won’t come on with the key turned . Engine turns over and starts fine . If I earth the bulb assembly on temp basis the light comes on . Any ideas? Paul
  19. I’ve opened the quarter light to show the fixing . I believe you can fix to the outer frame ( grub screws ) but this didn’t work for me. Paul
  20. I’ve got one on the drivers quarter light ( oblong ) . Works a treat and wouldn’t be without it - Vitesse Paul
  21. The rim is in good condition though would need some prepping then painting . I’ve seen leather covers for about £30 Paul
  22. No leather cover when I got it . This was with the spares when I bought the car. Paul
  23. My Vitesse mk 2 is a Bitza - is the steering wheel correct for a mk2 Paul
