Going on holiday in our 2500 saloon. 108 miles from home to Forest of Dean, plus travelling in the week. Should cover around 400 to 500 miles in the week.

I have a Chris Witor system, excellent fit. Probably worth waiting for.

I would rebuild the M/C especially as it looks a bit dodgy. A simple inexpensive job

Hi All
Can anyone recommend a good reliable electronic system that works well and lasts. The last one I fitted was a Pertronics which left me stranded waiting for the AA man. It was less than 2 years old.
Tried two Accusparks which caused a misfire.
Currently running with points and condensor, which seem ok. Should I stick with this?
Its for a 2500 saloon with twin SU HS6s and Lucas 45D dissy
Any recommendations or experiences?
many thanks

Just a word of advice, make sure all clutch operating parts are perfect else the clutch won't work.
I had my gearbox out 3 times until I realised some parts were worn!!
Good luck!!

Stan Walters, SW classics, Brook house Dartington Totnes
I believe Stan now lives in France, great chap!
I used to spend a lot of Saturday mornings there!
He was also into model railways and collecting war memorabilia from battlefields in France

Hi all
My drivers door has dropped, needs a lift as I close it.
I removed the door and top and bottom hinges are both knackered. I fiited a new pin but the hing is worn. The part that is bolted to the door is worn.
Any suggestions? Oversized pin or good replacement hinge (if i can get one)?
Anyone else had same problem?

Thank you everyone for the info 👍

Just about to start some body repairs on my 2500 saloon.
What gauge steel should I be using?
many thanks

Excellent unit, I had one fitted to my herald estate for at least 15 years. It never missed a beat, herald now sold. I have had other units fitted to my other triumphs, all failed.
Now given up on electronic ignitions and gone back to points and condensor.

Hi Pete Thats a good idea! May try that if I can't get originals.
Thanks

Thanks for all the info, it's mainly gear oil leaking. A bit of engine oil too, but not too bad.

Hi all
Got some severe oil leaks on the gearbox and j type overdrive on my saloon, the underside of the car is dripping in oil!
There seemed to be alot of oil around the solenoid, dripping from O/drive sump and off the drain plug on gearbox.
Are there any parts which are prone to leaks? I dont want to remove the gearbox from the car!
I have got a new o/drive sump gasget (not yet fitted), I have changed the speedo pinion seal and the breather is clear.
Is there any other seals/gasgets I can change?
I don't expect it to be completely leak free, but the triumph anti corrosion system is working too well now!
thanks in advance

2500 Saloon
Fitting a recon brake master cylinder soon, so may convert to silicone fluid. Do I need to flush the system with something?
I have had silicone in my spitfire for 8 years with no issues and no paint stripped bulkheads either!
thanks in advance
My 2500 allergic to unleaded

Hi all
I half filled my 2500 saloon with standard Texaco unleaded, as that was all that was available. Car misfired terrible, really thought something was wrong. I do normally use super unleaded
I then filled up when I had the chance with BP ultimate 97, misfire disappeared almost immediately!! Car ran far better.
A bit stressful, as on a week's holiday away from home!!
Anyone else had this?
Motto of this story, avoid Texaco unleaded!!!
