  1. This looks very nice indeed? https://www.mathewsons.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-698---1968-triumph-herald-1360/?lot=12511&so=0&st=&sto=0&au=36&ef=&et=&ic=False&sd=0&pp=96&pn=8&g=1
  2. I've always found this statement funny in todays world of multi-adjustable electrical heated seats, 4 height positions at the rear (Courtesy of Rubber Blocks!!), 2 at the front (1/2" AF Spanners needed!) and 12 Positions on the Runners No doubt when reclining seats where introduced on the Dolomites the term Infinitely adjustable was used by the advertising bods😁
  3. Did you manage to get your car back ok at the weekend?
  4. Here's one, not cheap but the same type and size as was fitted on my car? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325534930143?hash=item4bcb64d4df:g:B~0AAOSwnGlfnzI5&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoOMaZmbZp%2FM%2BQ58kbKCbncL9j2T5%2FKkQilupIBLq9Gpai3%2F2RvV1W6DD5pMt%2BgBLhD1NCRjrxiz%2BfV6T0Uze91iBwfP%2FnHYKeIjs%2FvxA6dRZhcEOB078qXaNH2HAdve5IprB2ZuiVmj%2FRDZzNLXQJ9gcoxAdwhC8cLU%2Be1hyOzzQU6OCCWRx82ywF%2FSkyGJ0FcZ1W07hPrrMqAY8A99ckfs%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9ykrLnQYQ I have one of the Repro Lockheed type Servo's fitted on my current car and it's been fine so far. Regards
  5. Phil Yes, that is the location were the hood flap is fixed with about 5 or 6 'U' clips per side With regards to the hood Tonneau Top Hat fixings, 3.5mm Screws, as used for fixing Domestic Switches/Sockets are a nice snug fit in the poppers. I got a box of 50 complete with Nuts and flat washers from an Electrical Wholesaler for fitting the Top hats were you can access the rear to fit the nut, they are Bright zinc plated and wont rust. Regards Gary
  6. A Girling Power stop type servo was an Original optional extra for the 2 Litre Vitesse's. My car had one fitted, although not originally, I can remember getting the servo off a Bond Equipe 2 Litre in a local scrapyard in the mid 1980's with a guy called John Gregory one of the previous owners of my old Vitesse When I rebuilt the car, I had it refurbished and this photo shows the original fitment location resting side on over the Clutch Master cylinder (I can't find any photo's of it fitted) The two mounting brackets for the servo are visible, these were taken off the Bond with the servo and are presumably part of the original factory fitment. Gary
  7. Yes I was referring to the cable size not overall diameter, I missed the square size symbol out I'm used to dealing with AC cable sizes 25mm2 35mm2 etc, the automotive sizes are slightly different for some reason. Regards
  8. That looks a lovely original Vitesse and a very late one too, the Leyland Logo badges on your front wings where only fitted on the 1971 manufactured Herald/Vitesse's. I bet your new car also as a Steering lock fitted too, which again became a legal requirement for 1971 manufactured UK Cars, check the commission number on the left of the front bulkhead, the last one made was HC58109CV, I'm sure you will find the number is not far from the end of production With regards to your query on the size of the cable from the rear Battery to the starter, my current Classic also as the Battery in the boot, I'm in the Electrical business and would guess the cable on my car is approximately 40mm2 cable size on the chart given by Chris, this will be fine for your car, just make sure it is routed out of the way of possible damage and securely clipped in place. Any crimped lug connections for the Starter Solenoid and Motor connections should be done with the correct crimping tool and have the correct hole size, 8mm if I remember correctly, all connection to be clean and tight for a low resistance connection. I look forward to seeing more photo's Regards Gary
  9. There are no fixings between the end of the rear lower stainless finisher and the bottom of the Hood Frame adjacent to the rear corner of the Door window. It relies on tension, there is a flap on the inside of the hood that folds over the inside of the hood well steelwork secured by 'U' shaped clips to keep the tension Regards Gary
  10. Congratulations!! I look forward to seeing it some time in the future at one of the Shows (Silverstone in June maybe?) If you need any help or advice ask away. Here's to a hot dry summer and plenty of top down motoring 😎 Regards Gary
  11. Here's another nice looking Convertible with Over-drive I've just seen listed to add to the mix? https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1553411 Regards Gary
  12. My answers and advice adjacent each Query above Gary
  13. No Problem How did you get on viewing the Valencia Blue Vitesse on Saturday? PS - The Gorgeous E-Bay Herald sold for £10,200.00 which is an excellent buy for someone I reckon. Gary
  14. I now have my discounted tickets, not been to Silverstone in an age so really looking forward to it🙂 Gary
  15. I've just had a look on E-Bay at Lunch time and if you want to consider an option to a Vitesse, how about an uprated Herald 13/60 Convertible with Spitfire Spec Engine and Overdrive, this is a beauty? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155402016656?hash=item242eae9790:g:jFgAAOSwBOVj5jPl Gary
  16. According to the Standard Triumph body build notes, the Front bulkhead section is the only one not adjustable fore/aft, in fact the holes in the bulkhead for the front fixing bolts into the front outriggers offer no adjustment. Adjustments can be made to the rear Tub, Bonnet and doors. I spent an age trying to get everything to fit correctly when I rebuilt my old Vitesse, even though the body had never been off the Chassis previously and all the original panels were still fitted (Apart from the sills) it was a Pain in the A**e! If a car's had replacement panels and repairs, it is even more of a struggle to get everything to align correctly, but can be done with patience. Gary
  17. 14" is a popular size and gives you a bit more Knee/Leg room than the standard size which I presume is 15" for a Mk3 GT6? I had a 15" Formula Wood rimmed wheel on my Vitesse and although it looked good, I didn't find it comfy at all I have a 14" Diameter Motolita Wood rimmed wheel on my current Classic and it's fine I wouldn't advise going any smaller unless you've got strong arms Gary
  18. This one's also been for a sale a while but looks worth a look? https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1510155 Regards Gary

    Crikey

Very nice indeed, but if that sells it would be a new World Record price for a Vitesse (Sports 6) Regards Gary
  20. Here's a link to the one Clive mentions above https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1550142 This car was listed last year for considerably more money, it was restored by a reputable Triumph Restoration company so well worth a look. Regards Gary
  21. Colin It looks like the retaining flange in your tank is distorted, maybe the senders been replaced a couple of times in the past and a PO's been a bit to heavy handed when replacing the lock-ring? You may need to carefully fettle it back into a better shape with a hammer and a block of wood (Especially the 3 curved sections that the retaining ring locates on) so when you insert the seal/sender/retaining ring the retainer is a better/tighter fit and won't pop out. There's none of this with the earlier 6 screw senders, I wonder why they decided to change it. Gary
  22. They do look the part, I must agree. I'm not sure regarding the seat belt mounting, the original mount on the 2 Litre cars as you probably know is on the rear inner wheel arch and the belt passes through a slot in the rear side trim panel (Photo below). I wouldn't recommend fitting them to the side of the 'B' Post Hood well area, the forces involved in an accident are very severe and they may well pull out! PS - I have discovered the name of the owner of the car, I will try and find his contact details for you as I'm still in touch with the owner of my old Vitesse who knows him Gary
  23. Colin This should explain screw sizes, it states Wood screws but I believe it's the same for Self tapping screws too Regards Gary Bolt Depot - Wood Screw Diameter and Number Table.pdf
  24. I have seen both rivets and the short Chromed self tappers shown by Colin used to secure the Treadplates (No.6 size I think). I think I picked up some suitable short Chrome self tappers as shown from an Autojumble off one of the Suppliers that specialises in fixings, I've no idea if any of the usual suspects supply them. A phone call or e-mail to TD Fitchets or Canley Classics and you may get lucky Colin I've found these Stainless steel ones on the net which will do the job I reckon https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiJ1aDE0JT9AhUVhVwKHXrXDuoQFnoECBoQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.spaldingfasteners.co.uk%2Fno-6-a2-stainless-steel-pozi-flange-head-self-tapping-screws%2F&usg=AOvVaw13Bl5X1hZe4II_270xPmEj Regards Gary
  25. I attended the MG/Triumph spares day on Sunday and spotted this lovely Vitesse fitted with MX5 Seats. I believe they had been re-trimmed to suit the existing interior and looked very smart and not at all out of place, if you look closely you can see that they clear the 'B' Posts and would no doubt be fine for someone six foot plus. Apologies for the poor quality, but they where taken with my phone and I couldn't stop the reflections from the windows I believe the owner is from Gloucester area, although I didn't get chance to talk to him unfortunately, so I hope he doesn't mind me sharing these Photo's on here?
