Thanks oh passinger seat back seems to have snapped somewhere too. I blamed the other half for that its noisy and everything rattles and vibrates like it’s at warp 9 constantly. Proper classic loving her so far
  2. As a frequent on line shopper I agree it’s pants. I looked for something I knew was in the catalog but couldn’t find it. However that’s not a daming criticism because it’s a club shop and not a major retailer. As a noob and outsider looking in a guess it’s a simple question. Will an up to date site generate good extra income over what it takes to run ? I’m sure however many people would prefer to purchase from TSSC rather than giving money to the big boys.

    First Drive

Car delivered on Tue and first drive today. Starts no problem and idles fine. Full throttle is ok too but a dodgy Kangaroo spot in the middle. All in all better than expected. Brakes seem fine as does the steering and suspension. No engine temp problems so far. Dials and electrics seem ok. Few niggly bits to sort out. One of the hard top front bolts won’t tighten. Boot lock won’t lock and the passenger door lock doesn’t want to work properly. I screwed the inside catch up tight to prevent it lifting up as a temp fix. boady work looks good apart from some cracks in the paint work around parts I guess are prone to flexing. shes going to Yorkshire Triumphs once they have finished moving premises, for a good luck over and service.
  4. Old thread but like your thinking on this. emergency electric fan rather than covering up potential problems. File your comments in my head for later use
  5. But then I won't know what time it dropped oil all over the road
  6. I’m sorry it’s definitely for bling. I’m going to fit a 3 hole dash plate under the current dials. So extra 3 dials required. Clock, volts, and oil temp or pressure. Different views so far on whether temp or pressure is best or should I say more useful.
  7. I see DT do sender adapters. If the correct size is available can these be used directly into the sump ? Ether way I should be able to cobble something together. Thanks for the info chaps. what is the sump plug thread and size please anyone ?
  8. Many thanks chaps. So to recap. Oil pressure gage is doable in both mech and electric sender form due to the fact you can add to the oil switch entry point. Oil temp gage is more difficult as the engine has no access point so would require the sump plug drilling for access for the temp pick up.
  9. Angelfire. Is yours a oil pressure gage then ? How are they fitted?
  10. Hi. I’m going to add an additional 3 dial lower dash panel to my Spit 4 I intend to add a clock ( simple ) volt meeter ( simple ish ) oil temp ( err no idea ) they do a mechanical or an electric version with sender unit I’m guessing a mechanical would be best ? But how do I fit this ? Where do I get the oil temp from. obviously not cheap gauges so need to order the correct ones thanks Grant
  11. Mine could be on its way unless my key ring is out of stock

    Facebook

I agree. Facebook has its place and can be very useful but not for technical questions etc. I often read old threads on here and keep an eye on new ones that are frankly well out of my tech league but very interesting. Trying to do this on Facebook would bombard me with notifications and be unmanageable.
  15. Thanks didn't realise it was wire. Yes used to those on my motorbike and indeed can be a pain for the reasons you stated. Do look the Dogs though.
  16. Oh also I notice the wheels, very nice. As a noob can someone explain them please because I like the look from what I can see.
  17. Welcome. I also have a 1964 Spitfire. Yours look great in Red.

Yep got the Haynes on its way plus the restoration book. I need pics and lots of them. Actually do they do a pop up book
  20. North Yorkshire seems alive but south doesn’t look good. Prob is Yorkshire is so big it can’t really be serviced by one group only.

    Books/Manual

Many thanks I think that will be very handy. Just ordered a copy
  22. As usual a simple question is never simple. Nice to here all the options. As a dog and cat owner I’m aware how poisonous normal antifreeze is. Not to mention my dumb ass kids
  23. Thanks for the reply’s doggy seals and leaks are off the menu. I will bow to your expertise and put in blue antifreeze. Better safe than sorry
  24. Hi obviously an old thread but iv seen other mention using proper blue antifreeze and just wondering why I shouldn’t use modern antifreeze with summer coolant? Thanks
