A agree compression testing and carb balancing on sep menu. Water pump on its way from Rimmer’s hopefully here for the bank holiday. Will fit the pedal spring too I was donated. Tappets are nice and quiet now thanks. Really enjoyed my day and great bunch without any pretentious prima donnas.

Thanks for a great day and for telling me my water pump is buggered wallet out job Grant
  3. any Problem with 75s fouling the arches ? Or is the difference negligible. Ie if I go 165/75 13
  4. Thanks will look around for 165/70 I think and go the middle ground. Front tyres are getting old and back are prehistoric.

Book me in for a good Carb fettle see you tomorrow fellas Grant
  7. Thanks. I’ll check what I have on atm. Don’t want a lower profile than currently on it as it’s low enough with speed bumps etc. Width gives me some options though.

Will do Pete thank you. Does anyone have gauages and could demonstrate carb balancing too?

    TWIDDLE DAY 2

I’m contemplating bringing the Spit. Problem with the carb settings if anyone wants to help ? Still bunny hopping in second when trying to maintain half revs. It’s a pain round town. Obviously if anyone wants to test drive her that’s fine with me.
  10. Ok I haven’t looked what tyre size I currently have although they are 13in standard Spit4 wheels. (Standard suspension set up) I’m looking at 4 new falken 832s as recommended above. What size should they be or what do people recommend ?? I thankQ Grant
  11. Just replaced mine the other day with a Rimmer’s one. Seems ok so I hope I don’t have any problems. The box also had a thick spacer seal in it too but not sure for what engines. Mine didn’t currently have one so opted not to use it. Fingers crossed
  12. Glad I remembered about the Falken SN832s. Had a look at my rear tyres and they are Goosed. I’m sure there also donkeys year old so wallet out again.

Suppose I should (shouldn’t) look at the club catalog before I set off.

I'll be their but without the Spit. Unfortunately the rear diff is leaking so I'm avoiding long distances until it's fixed. Grant
  15. Can't add anything to the above. Welcome to the forum. Great bunch who know their stuff on here. Like Pete says keep it stock and get it working before you start playing with additional parts eg filters etc.
  16. They are indeed for trucks and trailers etc. Going to magnet them onto the boot lip and put the bat box into the boot. Wasn’t expecting a single live feed only
  17. Being a bit OCD. I’ve eBay myself a red led lighting bar and 12v AA battery box. Simple set up for enhanced visibility at night. Anyhow. The battery box has the obvious neg and pos wires. However the led bar only has a red pos wire. How do I get theses things to work please. Dumb ass sorry Grant
  18. Well if God had a car it would have been a triumph anyway so he says it’s ok. ( que lightning bolt )
  19. That’s dam cheap ‘I say I say dam cheap’ que or northerners. Google maps at the ready.
  20. I’m absolutely no expert but wouldn’t a power plant like that require some brake and suspension upgrades too ? I’m with Colin on this type of thing I’m afraid. At what point does your classic car become another car. Lots of peeps like the Strombergs as on option

Pete Nice to know you have visited the engineering work shop who are advertised in the club shop for engine rebuilds. Obviously not a cheap prospect but in the future us novices will probably require their services. Great to here about their high standards and thorough work.
  22. I went out with the Derwent valley group round Derbyshire to Chatsworth. Nice run out. Big group of 2CVs and the TR club also a Bentley run too. Even the Bentleys waved at us Peasants in our Triumphs
  23. Thanks Colin. So it's doable then. Just another option if I find the SU a pain in the arse. Can't see the point in constantly messing with carbs if better options are available. I would keep the SU on a shelf. Prefer a car to run sweet than worry over original spec.
  24. Thanks Pete. Didn't realise it was a manifold swop too. Iv no major problems with the SU it's a general question. Iv still got bits to work through re ignition which may solve my kangaroo issue before I reach the carbs.
