If I fail to get the lock open what are my options?

But of course!
My first Vitesse boot wouldn't lock when I bought it... except that I soon discovered it actually was locked and wouldn't unlock, it's just that some PO had hammered the handle in enough to dent the boot lid to the point where the two lugs holding the housing still were no longer engaged, and the whole thing could turn.
Try plenty of WD40 into the lock, then insert and remove the key many times. Sometimes that frees the pins up in the barrel.
I’ll give that a go!
before I get the hammer out

Are you turning the key the correct way?
I know it sounds daft but mine can be locked by turning the key in either direction but only unlocks if it has been turned in the correct direction to lock it. It is probably due to old lock, recut key etc
I’ve tried all the ways.
I have another key at home. I’ll try that.it was a little sticky sometimes. Dam I wish I’d changed it!

Well that didn’t last long.
The boot won’t unlock!
obviously the day before I go on away for the weekend. -

if it has the little angled mirror to lok sideways dont let it drop off inside somewhere
ive got an old snap on self contained unit, poor picture old school techy but will join to a laptop rarely used
that looks a good buy
Pete
It's excellent quality with a mirror and a hook and a light.
The app is great too you can record video and take pictures. -
I got to use my new toy to have a look around too!

was that the hoop/circular springy thing ?
1600 with a Cat thats different
Pete
Yes.
it had snapped and both halves were in the bottom of the door.
i bent the end of the biggest bit to fit into the original hole.
the whole mechanism can be taken out of the door after removing the door card.

I spent the day doing a proper job of fitting the gearbox cover with new seals and aluminium duct tape. I then turned my attention towards the door catch that has always allowed the door fly open occasionally.
I found that the spring had broken, but managed to make the remains of it fit again with a bit of bending.Job done!
i then realised that for the first time since I’ve had him, everything works!
I wonder how long that will last! -

give the clutch an italian tune up
like some long slip times in a high gear under power
if it catches fire you have over done it enough for a good pong is acceptable
but it will need some use to reduce the feathering lining of newness

This is exactly what i wanted to hear! Stand by Streatham!

It's a bit juddery if i pull off slowly. I've convinced myself it's just the clutch 'bedding in'
I really hope i haven't bought a duff one!

I’ll come back to it. I haven’t any more oil anyway. Just fitting. The seats and it’ll be test time!

I’ve given up and put 1.8 ltr in through the top
-
I’m stuck on getting the level/filler plug out. Of all things!

That's quite a view; how I wish I had so much room when working on the GT6. Very interesting accelerator mechanism; almost like mine but mine is straight and goes behind the pedals.
So much easier with the seats and gearbox out
