It's very easy and comfortable to drive! Just done 250 miles down to Zummerszet ( and Middlezoy!) Feeling spry!
Far too sensible for me. I want something I can mess with and annoy people on forums with for years.
it’s my modus operandi!

My old bus.

At least with a VW you can get all the parts.
The Toyota runs 'ok' apparently. It's had some welding done over the years, so i guess that'll be an on going thing. The price seems about right to me. The engine was used in quite a few Toyota's, but i think parts are still tricky. More ebay than dedicated parts suppliers.

no idea of values what if you put the reg in we buy any car ???
does it have any sort of kitchenette ??
seems an odd colour , and as with the vw post much of the era are rust buckets ....unless its a Triumph Hmmm
the only experience i have of VW was back in the late 60s had to do a comparison audit on VW van it was full of defects , never understood the liking
but my blood has Commer in it ha !!
Pete
The camping interior was removed. it does have a pop up top though!

Those VW ones are silly money now. My Mum sold mine for £300 as it was blocking the light into the front room after being parked up for a few months "awaiting repair"

Hello!
I'm tempted by this campervan. The Vitesse is obviously being too good at the moment!
Is it a terrible idea? I'm worried about parts availability and there doesn't seem to be the sort of club support support that i love!
I'd love to hear your thoughts! That's not me in the pictures!

Much better. They seem to be more powerful so they can even work in the searing Streatham sunshine. Definitely took the flippy floppiness out of them.

That's good but it's worth doing an electrical conductivity test - measure the resistance from the cleaned-up ring where the contact's been running to the brown wire that goes to the motor.
Ok. Will do

The other weak link in the park mechanism is the pair of copper rivets that attach the contact plate - just near your thumb in the last photo. Those form the electrical connection to the parking circuit, and they corrode. If you don't have a good electrical connection, they can be replaced with small brass bolts and nuts.
They are tight and look good.

yes they dont tend to wear inside
the park sweeper is the weak link if its broken yours looks fine
just a few dabs of grease will revive it easy
pete
Do i grease the contact?

sounds a plan the old grease goes very sticky
aha Doug's dropped me in it again !!!!
you can pull the cord/spiral drive out by undoing the big tube nut on the motor gearbox and just pull the
thing out its a couple of ft long
before remove the wiper arms , stick a card pointer on the splined drive pointing at 12oclock
pull the cord out , to re grease it
on refit turn the pointer 180 degrees so when you refit the cord the drive runs on the unused side of the wheelbox gear .
as for the motor you can remove the tin cover screws and re grease the worm/gear drive
if you strip the crank from the gearbox turn it over 180 deg so again use the unworn
side of the spiral drive
Pete
Ok. I'm halfway through. How much grease should i put back in? it was gunky

keep an eye on it
do we need to specify the Talc you used ????
if you DIY next time take the side shield off to get a good view of what youre doing
Pete
I went with the classic Johnson’s baby powder. No frills.
top tip regarding the shield. The talc also highlighted some cracking on a fuel hose, so it’s off to the club shop for some new stuff. Last time I bough from eBay. Looks like it wasn’t the best quality -

It is a bit messy, though always managed easily for me with car up on the kerb (I haven't got a garage either).
I'll be doing it myself from now on.

Nah too noisy most have no idea of the cracks and bangs that go on when changing gears
its all hidden by that lovely tunnel monstrosity we have all had to love at some time
(why I changed to a 2000 it doesnt have one )
Pete
You have to be in the right mood to fit it, that's for sure. 5 mins meditation before

I cleaned and dried and talced and it was peeing out of both the end and the bottom!
