May have missed something but you do not have wire wheels fitted by any chance?

if you are a TSSC member, please make sure your membership number is entered in the relevant field in your profile, and PM me with your real name and membership number and I'll get you moved across to the paid up members user group
Followed all the instructions and it happened within the hour, thank you Kevin.

smoking a pipe while driving
Steady on, some of us do that in a GT6. It, and the car, regularly gets a smile and then comments like 'that smells just like my Grandad used to smoke". 🙂

Like Nigel I have never had the problem you are worried about in my 1967 GT6 with an unlagged 6-3-1, and that is over about 15 years of year round use home and abroad. Heat shields fitted.

Latest hair-brained idea is appointments to visit.
We have had that locally for several years now and initial scepticism has worn off. Quick check online and rarely have to wait more than a couple of hours (cuppa time) for a slot and none of that queuing for ages on a Saturday/Sunday. The fly tipping remains.

After several decades the rubber boots have given up the ghost. Rather than just replace the boots, which I have available, I suspect it is time to change the tie rod ends and then get the tracking checked at the same time. Can anyone recommend a suitable supplier of decent ones, ideally with the grease nipple fitted unless I am persuaded otherwise.

fly in a helicopter to push someone else out first 🚁⚡
In my working life having been winched in and out of helicopters to and from ships too many times for my own good a failure by the flight deck crew to earth the winch wire before clipping on was greeted by much bad language and more.

The WD40 company recognises this and markets a "WD40 Specilialist Penetrant" spray: WD-40 Specialist Fast Release Penetrant Spray (wd40.co.uk) I have never, ever, seen this on sale in the UK!
Screwfix have it, and I think I saw it in Halfords; works a treat in my experience.

The best I have found is the cast T2000 joint from Chris Witor
Exactly my experience, and that of others locally who have followed the advice.

Courtesy of John Thomason's 'Guide to Originality' for the GT6 Mk2 "The wire spokes of the 15" leather rimmed TR5 wheel were covered in a padding to create a distinctive wheel unique to th GT6 Mk2".

Given the temperature not the handbrake 'freezing' the linings on is it?

IIRC Mark Field of ex-Jigsaw Racing did much of the restoration.

Did mine many years ago drilling the backplate to avoid pulling, and thus disturbing, the hubs. Do not recall having to take the hub off the front but it was a long time ago. Freelander studs drawn in tight, and as Prophet says ideally use open ended nuts for an easy check all is well.

Same as Clive and all booked up, spoke to Lisa on 20 Dec and paid. EMail does rather assume that 'Kev' is a member of the TSSC and not just a Forum member?

only about 30,000tons
Try a destroyer at 3,500 tons; soup and stew the order of the day and I used to sanction putting the deep fat fryer out of bounds.
But what has this to do with an Aldon ignition - nothing I know.

It started years ago when I first got into sailing. At that time I’d antifoul with bear hands, next year with a pair of gloves, next year barrier cream with gloves and so on.
I bought my latest boat from a chap who had sailed for decades and suddenly started to get a rash on his hands very easily, to the extent that even handling a shore line that may have just touched some anti-fouling bought him days of grief.

Colin, As you say it's a gamble, like much of life, but based on the past 16 or so years of attending Le Classic and comments on this Forum people have a habit of leaving the booking late and finding there are no slots available on their chosen ('assumed') route/date/time.
-
My last conversation with Angie was that the club as waiting for the organisers to publish prices so that booking details could be promulgated. Over many years experience I booked the ferry (Portsmouth-Caen) as soon as the timetable was promulgated a couple of months ago.

Won't take long to find where the 'tinkling' noise comes, straight ahead or when turning!

I think the front trunnions are one of the worst design features of our Triumphs
Grand Prix cars of 60 years did not seem to think so, with money less of a problem there.

Vitesse, paint colour of original oil filter housing ?

Albeit for a GT6 John Thomason's 'Guide to Originality' says " ...the AC Delco type of oil filter was identified by its plain, silver painted bowl."
