  2. Hi, assembling my 1970 GT6 from boxes that haven't been opened for 12+ years and I can't find a throttle return spring and the little connecting rod it's supposed to hook onto. Rimmers list as 'no longer available', anyone have any suggestions and also I can't find any reference as to what the spring connecting rod attaches to at the bottom? I have all of the throttle linkages etc., it's just the spring and wire connecting rod I'm trying to replicate. Many thanks if you can help. Ian
  3. If it's any help to anyone I have just reinstalled the adjustable radius arms, with new adjusters, on my Mk11 GT6 and they are set at 373.6. There is absolutely no way the wsm dimension of 424.4 could have worked and my radius arms are straight. Ian
  4. Hi. Did this ever get resolved? I'm putting my GT6 Mkll back together, which had bent adjusters so I'm replacing them, but the dimension in the workshop manual (424.4mm) would make reassembly impossible, and my radius arms are not offset either?? The vitesse dimensions (373.6mm) appear to be much more likely, would they be correct??? Ian
  5. I'm fitting the rear harness to my GT6 but as I didn't remove the harness I have a question regarding the additional RED and BLACK wires which appear to sit behind the rear wings. I can identify the rear, stop and tail, indicators, numberplate and reverse light wiring but I can't identify the RED and BLACK wires mentioned above, are these for export models with side repeaters?? If anyone can shed some light or point me in the direction of a harness diagram (not the manual schematic) I'd be very grateful. Ian
  6. Hi I'm installing the front windscreen frame on my GT6 MKII (from boxes of bits) and I have identified the lower fixings but am struggling with the top of the frame to the roof fixings. I know there were two long, countersunk head screws which screwed through the frame and up into the roof and I know there were two large rectangular plates which were inside the roof front frame. Parts catalogues show two hollow tubes with flanges but they appear to pass through the rectangular plates, which the ones I have certainly will not, they will fit through the rubber seal and as such would guide the countersunk head screws through the frame. One of the tubes has a rubber grommet but the other one does not, is this something that has just found it's way onto the tube or is it a factory fit?? Parts catalogues don't show countersunk head screws, they show hexagon head setscrews, I think my c/s head screws are correct am I right?? If I'm right and if there are supposed to be grommets would they fit above or below the rubber seal (there is a depression in the windscreen frame that could accommodate the grommet?? Any help, advice, knowledge would be gratefully received. Thanks Ian
  7. Thanks Pete. Makes sense without all the mystery. Actually I read a similar thing on an American forum but I'm afraid I find some of their ideas a little cavalier, now you have said, more or less, the same I'm reassured . Cheers Ian
  8. Hi. thanks for the reply Pete. So no 1/2" internal diameter washer malarkey then? Just to be absolutely clear Is that add up to 0.010" as well as the gasket, or does the gasket dimension not matter? Cheers Ian

I've been reading the official workshop and Haines manuals for the GT6 but I find the description of the process for determining and setting the endfloat is not very clear, for instance there is no real clarity regarding the gasket in the calculation, my question is: Has anyone come across a clear, definitive account and if so where can I find it??

Hi, I'm working on the floor of my GT6 (underneath) using fresh epoxy primer, stonechip, seam seal, top coat and Waxoyle, and so far it's all looking good but I find two gaps at the front of the rear wheel inner arches and wonder if these have been left open for drainage or should they have been closed (seam sealed)? Any suggestions gratefully received. Cheer Ian

  13. Hi, thanks for responding please see pic attached. You can see the top of the shims (two on each side, they look like the lower wishbone shims) sandwiched between the rubber mounting and the engine mounting bracket. Hope this clarifies, thanks for looking. Ian
  14. I am reassembling a 1970 mk2 GT6 and whilst replacing the old engine mountings I discovered the original mountings have shims behind them. Shims are not shown in the parts catalogue has anyone any idea why these might have been fitted and can I safely leave them out of the rebuild? Thanks Ian
