  1. The club shop sell them and will advise on which one's to buy for road use Powerflex are the make they stock or use to Regards Keith
  2. Does any one have a photo of the front edge of the front cross member of a spitfire 1500. I need to see the spoiler attachment holes location, and if the are round or slotted with ideally measurements so i can drill some in my cross member Regards Keith
  3. Yes I have removed the valance and the two infill pieces in the 1/4 valances as well, the spoiler fits to the 1/4 valances without issue its the cross member which has no holes for the set screws to go through as they thread into the spoiler on the valance the set screws go from the valance in the captive nuts in the cross member and are a different spacing Regards Keith
  4. I have a late GT6 MK3 post KE 20000 built on the 9th of May 1973 according to my BMIHT certificate, so should theoretically have left the factory with a spoiler according to John Thomason's Book Triumph spitfire and GT6 a guide to originality .I have removed the front valance to replace with a spoiler as fitted to later post February 1973 GT6's spitfire Mk4's and all 1500's however the fixing holes for the valance are spaced differently on my cross member and has captive nuts for the valance but no holes for the spoiler I can soon drill some but has any one else come across this or is John Thompson wrong about the spoiler in his book Regards keith
  5. Thanks for the suggestions I will try changing the tyres first and see how it handles With regard to the spoiler My car is a later 1973 car non roto flex and it did not come from the factory with a spoiler as when i bought it it came with the grill infills for the 1/4 valances which cant be fitted with the spoile . It was quiet original when bought but in need of a total rebuild which I did over three years I don't know when the factory started fitting the spoilers on GT6's or if they have all been retrofitted buy owners over the years but may buy one and try that later also as you say it wouldn't be a bad idea to check the tracking and wheel alignment all good ideas and worth looking at thanks Regards keith
  6. Hi The tyres on my GT6 are due for changing not because of wear but on age I fitted Minilight wheels with Pirelli P3000's 175/70/13 14 years ago, I don't do a lot of miles per year but want a premium brand tyre wear rate is not overly important but want a tyre which will grip well ,what would you recommend . The car is fitted with GAZ shocks all round and uprated front springs as will as a leaf spring I bought from jig saw racing .Next at high motor way speeds my GT6 late MK 3 swing spring ( non roto flex ) has a slight instability which not a major problem would the spoiler as fitted to later spitfires improve this I had a late spitfire 1500 for 25 years and never experienced any instability Your thoughts would be appreciated Regards Keith
  7. I receive the same message this morning deleted. May still be active Keith
  8. The wheel trims are spitfire ones which have a smaller center so if you want to fit the GT6 badges then you will need to cut them down
  9. Well finally bit the bullet and fitted them ,found a set I bought 14 years ago in my spares box Spent a few days trying different places to mount and think I have found the best place for vision and not obstructing the 1/4 lights opening. went out and bought a 17/64 HSS bit to get a snug fit and once drilled touched up the holes with a little etch primer with a paint brush. I think they look good Keith
  10. I don't know what car soy have but on spitfires and GT6 their is lots of adjustment when bolting the window winder frames back into the doors and it is a case of trial and error to get the window adjustment right before fitting the door cards
  11. Yes its the Glass to hatch rubber I need . I found a good match for the original hatch to body seal a few years ago at the NEC auto jumble as I took a sample of the original seal with me as it is off set, most of the suppliers sell one which isn't I have included the photo of the body to hatch seal Keith
  12. Where is the best place to buy a rear hatch glass rubber . I want the best quality one I can get .The one I fitted when I rebuilt the car cracked on one radius shortly after fitting and I have recently bought a better condition rear sundyne rear hatch glass and want to fit it .I am a little out of touch with suppliers Regards Keith
  13. Hi Jeremy I think the part number for the item your referring to is 613350 .If you can get me the dimensions I dont think it would be very difficult to make one I have some plate and a metal folder it just looks like a box with out turned flanges and a oblong hole for the check strap to pass through and two holes for the pop rivets which hold the check strap spring Keith
  14. Hi Please find images of both H frames I have spare how's £10.00 for the one with foam or £15.00 for the one with the vinyl still on plus postage at cost. Also included photo of my GT6 Regards Keith

  17. I have just bought these and the quality looks good . The original ones seem to fade very quickly so thought I would try these . Ok they are a slight move away from standard but I think they add a touch of class. Has anyone else fitted them Regards Keith
  18. Thanks for the reply's. I will try the club shop first in a week or two .I always like to buy from the club if I can, as they say use it or loose it Regards Keith
  19. Thanks for the tips .Will do as you say and get an assistant to help. next is do I go for chrome or black mirrors, door handles and bumpers chrome but top wing finisher black Also which is the best make to buy quality more important than price. Keith
  20. I am thinking of fitting door mirrors to my Mk3 GT6 . it has an overtaking mirror on the quarter light frame but I would like to replace this with a pair of the later spitfire BL oblong ones like I had on my spitfire but am wondering about the correct position as it has quarter lights unlike the spitfire, does anyone have photos and fitting dimension's for drilling Regards Keith

  24. Hi Folks yes it is the same GT6 I haven't used it very much in recent years Just insured and taxed it today with claasicline and will be going over to my storage garage tomorrow and take some photos of it for the agreed value insurance .It is still in the same condition when it won at stafford back in 2008 or possible fractionally better as I have had chance to finish some bits and have finally got the heater hoses to fit .Hope to put a few miles on it this year once I have gone through a few final checks Thanks for the guide to valve clearances will check my build records and see if I can find the set up info , It should be in their but I have so much paper work it is difficult to find one single sheet Regards Keith
