Ziggy
pull the injectors out when it is runnng and point into a jam jar to look at spray pattern
if one is dribble, point it upwards and tap repeatedly, or pull the end (Pintle?) gently, should clear any trapped air or specs of dirt.
but starting on 5 is common, will start on 4 as well, but 3 is pushing it, and can give fantastic flames as you set off and try to clear it in my experience.
But the backfires were impressive!

Not these days, you can buy replacements (modern repros - just saw them online!)
That's a GT6+ / GT6 Mk3 radio plate, I assumed it was the same - my fault however you can buy modern Spitfire Mk3 versions nowadays as well:

Damn, my pension has just gone right down, that is a fraction of what they used to be.
😞

I should have said minus the mesh, mine has an old radio in the hole.

link to A post by Mike who fitted a Smart motor to a .mk3
it is very effective, I have been in the car.

That is not a Mk3 Spitfire blanking plate. Well it does not look anything like the one in my Mk3 Spitfire.
Does look like the one in my Mk4 though.

The DVLA have incorrectly recorded the information when the car was re-registered.
I reckon it is a 1968 car on an F plate.
I like these detective stories.

Assuming the GE1***1 number is replicated on the logbook, and the car is on a "C" plate, then something's is not right.
Car has possibly been exported and when re-imported DVLA made a mistake.
Also possible it has been off the records and when put back on a mistake was made.
There are reasons to make a car look pre-65 for some motorsport as well, so that's may explain the mis-match.
-
Then once done, look for a better motor.
the is one from a Smart 4/2 that fits, also aMustang one I beleive.
maybe also Micra, but that may be a different car.

So we are saying they posed 2 last Spitfires, as the other Last Spitfire in the pictures on the Triumohworks website is RHD.
i wonder if that one is the Gaydon one?
(A few weeks ago I noticed the Gaydon one has had a quick blow over respray)
-
Just been following the links above on the Triumoh works website.
another picture of the last Spitfire, is a dark paint and US bumpers.

So it looks like we have the following
Last built RHD
Last built LHD - car in photo
Last off the line (as it went back for rework)
Suspect there's also a "last out of the factory" as they will have all been stored after manufacturer.

Rust, rust and more rust.
And then poor repairs

119891 seems to be fitted to lots of gearboxes looking at the Canley Classics website.
all 4-synchro boxes, single and 3 -rail.

I was withPJ for many years, but for some reason ERS took a dislike to giving what I thought would be a fair premium.
Then found most brokers use ERS for their multi-vehicle policies.
So got same premium where ever I tried.
Ended up with Cherished Insurance who also run the TRR scheme. Part of A-Plan group.

Dear Scrapman,
Would you be willing to part with it for a suitable sum? if so I could give you my contact details and perhaps think about the suitable level of £££s
Cheers
Chris
I checked it and I think it is dates 1970, will have a very close look at the HRW looking for damage.
will let you know.
-
You can do it yourself checking if it is bent, just need a flat floor, a plumb line and a copy of the original workshop manual

Changes at hc4500 is change from 1600 bottom end to standardised one.
be careful with early MB blocks, they have a different casting, so no bits to bolt Vitesse engine mount too.
I have that tee-shirt.

Inside the rocker cover of my PI didn't look too dis-similar to that when I got it,
you could just about make out the rockers amongst the sludge.
I do not think the engine was serviced in a very long time, if ever.
Did me about 15k before other things got the engine.
When the block went for cleaning recently, they commented they hadn't had one that bad for a while. I stunk of neglect,

I was thinking of doing away with the gear box and having some of the overdrives backwards, so they reduced the ratio,
.I am sure that would work.

I didn't know that NOS would be a possibility (syndym or not would be fine) - NOS would be great. Any suggestions for a supplier?
Many thanks for the comments.

dont they do a clear panel to make a sky light that matches the contour of the metal clad ????
Pete
They do. I have them

I have always wondered if you could use 3 or 4 OD as a kinda automatic. They would need to be different ratios to make it work best.
Like an automated manual, perhaps.

Have you tested the fuel pressure?
Do you have a relayed power feed to pump from the battery?
Coukd be pressure dropping whilst it cranks.
the 30 seconds misfire, does it sound like it is on 4 or 5? That could be a faulty one way valve on metering unit. Or a lazy injector.
