I sent you a reply yesterday Jim
Let me know If you are interested.

I would say fit sills first and then resin the doors. That way you are only changing 1 part at a time, as you know the door is the right shape before you start.
-
If you are changing gearbox oil don't put the cover back!
unless of course you have cut an access hatch to refill it.
-
There are loads of 1300 engines about, particularly if you want something to get it going.
well there is in my garage... 🙂
Shame you are no where near me.

I was working on a72/73 GT6 today, body number plate was about inch below the big plate, on passenger A-post.
Original as far as I can tell.

Would not the threads in the boss act like rifling in a gun barrel and cause the oil to start to spin?

I have the same issues with my TR6, after an oil change it is a nightmare to get oil pressure back. Don't have any issues with 5 other cars all equipped with same centre sprung filter conversion. Various different makes of filter tried, all the same.
I gave up after 30 mins of spinning on starter in bursts, including squirting oil into pressure switch, having brimmed new filter. Nothing, so I tried starting it, probably shouldn't have as that didn't work either, and I think I messed up bearings. Oil pressure consistantly 10psi lower now.
last three changes I have just removed pedestal, and a couple of minutes with drill and oil pressure returns. And it always comes straight back on any subsequent startup, just not the one after the filter Is changed.

Looked a bargain at £3200.

Area they same as big saloon stalks?
on them one is screwed to the other which is itself attached to column with a metal clamp.
come apart easily.

Just looked at the photo of the car
You have US rear lights, the bits round the corners should be Amber, and do not as standard light up at all, even though they have a fitting no behnd them, as the main casting is the same for all models.
It is easy to give side rear indicators with the addition of 2 bulbs.

Other oddity I noticed is overdrve knob on gearstick.
That Talk Talk album is one of my favourites, and spookily whenI turned radio on this morning, "It's my life" was playing.
-
Only oddity I spotted was a brown interior in a red car.
I guess it wasn't always red.

Isn't the Gt6 clutch common to some fords, certainly transits rings a bell, or perhaps just driven plate.
must be able to get a paddle clutch plate of suitable dimensions.

You must be able to understand Markus then.

Brake lights, wipers and indicators are all same feed, so either fuse or ignition switch.
wiggle the fuse first.

One hint I think it was Coming ve gave was to weather proof the connectors afterwards, they do corrode easily.
try to put all the bits in the driest spots.

I am sure I read recently that E10 may not appear as quick as suggested due to an inability to produce enough ethanol at a viable price.
producing it requires raw materials needed for more important things or something like that

Any chance of a link as can’t get further than adding Vehicle Reg and then system says incorrect registration
Paul
The ECP website is a nightmare, it insists on a reg number that's then stops it searching.
know what's else it might fit and enter that.
1.8 petrol Golf from 1990 works for oil filters sometimes.

Tony Lindsey Dean has been advertising a few engine on Ebay recently, as he clears out surplus stock.
might be worth ringing him to see what else he may have.
Ought to ask, what are you hoping for out of the engine you are seeking?

Pm sent.
cheers

Picton Sportscars is no more in its former status, Dave closed up shop just before the lockdown hit, just after he was threatened with a massive rent increase.
He is still about, just no premises anymore, whilst he decides she what to do.

Yes, been looking at this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-VITESSE-MK2-CONVERTIBLE-FACTORY-OVERDRIVE-GREAT-CAR-FROM-HCC/184321877118?hash=item2aea70a47e:g:W~kAAOSwcpte3lCW
Seems very clean, has factory replacement engine (MEA ESS Silver Seal Replacement).
Not necessarily a major problem, an ME engine is from a 2000 saloon, so would have originally had a much softer cam, takes some of the life out of a Vitesse.

TR7 and maybe Dolomite Sprint brakes can be a worry.
Dave
Sprint is not a maybe!
They are adequate when in top condition.
They do have bigger rear drums, but also a valve to limit pressure as they are so mis-matched to the small front brakes they lock up.
I drove a sprint with "poor" brakes. I then declined to drive it again despite the owner saying they were fine.
He was pursuaded to buy a conversion from Jon Jackson as he needed his 2 co- drivers on board.
Then he conceded he was wrong.
Advice on fitting wire wheels to Mk2 Vitesse - what's required? Worthwhile?

There are different types/looks of wire wheel as well.
Never beeen keen on the skinnier looking ones that tend to have less spokes.
Had a set on a spitfire, you could hear the spokes creak and "ping" as you drove along. Luckily the asthmatic engine limited the issue effectively.
When I picked up the TR6 it had wires on it, chromed cross-laced ones with lots more spokes than usual. See the same type fitted to Ferraris and such like.
After investing a whole day of my life polishing them ( don't forget that bit) I decided to let them stay for a while.
Really grown on me I have to admit
