Selling Strombergs etc

Recommended Posts

Hi

Need some help selling Stromberg carbs please.

These came with the purchase of my mk2 Vitesse. I have no history of their condition and there could be some parts missing.

There are various packets of  new seals, gaskets, diaphragms and needle jets.

My question is what are they worth? I’ll include some photos as a guide.

Used parts seem to command strong prices these day ask me how I know!

Not wanting to shortchange myself what should I expect…..£150??

Appreciate your thoughts. Steve.

Looks like theyve got their identification tags so might be able to identify them and confirm theyre a pair. The jet holder on one looks like its been undone so hopefully that can screw back in... As their condition is unknown and they might be missing parts I think theyve got to be sold for parts/overhaul so 100 pounds is possible...

Prices vary, I sold two GT6 carbs recently, front and rear matched, for £37. Another single carb (front, I think - see photo) in excellent condition with new diaphragm failed to sell at all. Check eBay for prevailing prices but they're not really worth much these days, which I found to my cost.

If you’re not desperate for the space or money, then I’d keep hold of them. Especially if the bodies seem to have (relatively) little throttle shaft wear. Just spent £98 having my close to identical set for the GT6 rebushed. The spares alone will come in handy for your own car at some point.

Definitely keep them because if you sell them 3 months later you'll need them . .
