G clamps

Hi folks

Looking at Changing the suspension bushes.

 

Is it feasible to remove/fit without removing suspension parts from the car.

 

If so, I thinking of buying  vintage/strong G clamp/s.

 

Would these be ok to use and if so what are the best size/s for performance and accessability.

You'll be making it hard for yourself, just take them off and do them in a press or vice, it's the easiest way.

Are you going for poly bushes? They can be more difficult to get in. I had to drag my vice around the back off my car to push my new poly bushed rear shockers on.

As stated above, easier to do the bushes in the bench vice, or with threaded bar, nuts washers and a socket to make up a simple puller. What a small g-clamp is really handy for though is holding together a rear trunnion assembly while you squeeze it and its two "tin hats" into the rear upright. Grease everything, have the clamp off-centre, just to get everything started on its way in. Works for me every time.
