Darren Groves
So thinking about getting a new steering rack....couple of the traders do High Ratio/Quick Racks...like the idea of less turns lock to lock but in practice is it a good or bad thing? Anglefire
Quick rack I would expect to need more effort - just thinking logically rather than anything else.
Pete Lewis
You need to check just what ratio they are talking about The std 4 cly rack is already a higher ration 7 tooth pinion then the 6cyl 6 tooth pinion and has a groove machined in the input spline to identify it as 6cyl ratio Both rack rods are the same Pete
Darren Groves
From the traders websites: Our high ratio ‘quick’ steering rack assemblies give lock-to-lock in 2.6 turns compared to the standard 3.5 turns, providing quicker ‘turn-in’ on the bends for a more responsive feel. & Our quick rack has a high ratio pinion giving you lock-to-lock in only 2.5 turns, compared to the standard 3.5. Pete Lewis
Darren thats a big % increase in steering wheel input, loads of shreaded wheat required Especially if a smaller diameter is in use might work on a trackday not so good on devon lanes daily drives Youll be looking for a powered column Pete
Darren Groves
Thought that would be the case, will stick to standard one. Thank you.....
