mnc
Hi Everyone - I just bought a Spitfire IV and renewed my TSSC membership some 25 years after selling my Mk2. The plan is to have some fun with my son and introduce him to classic triumphs. The spitfire runs and had an MOT until recently and is now exempt. Can anyone recommend a good Spitfire mechanic in Kent to give the car a once over and a service to get me up and running. Thanks. Lee
Gully
Welcome aboard! I'm sure if you make your way along to your nearest regional meeting they will have some tips on local mechanics / garages. Details are on the home page of the website or in The Courier. mnc
Thanks Gully and Pete. Looking forward to some good interaction and happy to get my hands dirty. Just looking for a bit of a kick start. Want to catch the dog days of summer with a pub trip or two if I can. Lee
JohnD
I see you're in Tunbridge - next summer, see you at Brands Hatch? Several Triumphs including Spitfire in the Classic Sports Car Club Swinging 60s (!) series. See https://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/race-calendar when next years calendar published. This was at Brands, last August: https://www.davidstallardphotography.com/ClassicSportsCarClubCSCC/CSCC-2018/CSCC-Brands-Hatch-18-Aug-18/i-THZHX5j John
Clive
Get along to your local Triumph meeting. People are friendly, and there you will get some decent local knowledge. The east sussex meeting is near Uckfield (my local one) and I am confident that between us we should be to point you in the right direction. There may well be closer meeting too? https://www.tssc.org.uk/tssc/areas_final.asp?area_ID=38&area=South East, West Kent https://www.tssc.org.uk/tssc/areas_final.asp?area_ID=42&area=South East, East Sussex
mnc
Thanks John and Clive. I’ll certainly take up both suggestions. Uckfield is close enough to me and will certainly attend the next meeting. I’m also always happy to visit Brands. Look forward to meeting up Lee
Clive
Meeting is tonight! Or first wednesday of each month. And people rarely turn up in a Triumph over the winter (except me, and Pete!)
mnc
Ah Clive. I’ll not get there tonight. Currently out in a pub in London for a work function. Driving any vehicle not on the agenda for the rest of the day. Damn. What a shame. Next month for sure. Lee
