Rabbit Posted October 21, 2018 Report Share Posted October 21, 2018 I have just purchased a 1976 Triumph 1500TC. It has no rear seat belts, not even lap belts. What is the position regarding rear belts. No problem in buying some but just wondered if my car is actually illegal as regards the MoT test? They can only test what is there - and as long as the rules at the time of manufacture didn't require them, then you are fine. Having said that I would look to see if any can be fitted as I wouldn't like to go far in the rear (or front to be fair!) without belts. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
NonMember Posted October 21, 2018 Report Share Posted October 21, 2018 The good news is that the 1500TC body-shell has the requisite reinforced anchor points for rear belts, even though they weren't a requirement until a good few years after its production life ended. The slight problem is that the rear seat wasn't really designed to accommodate the belts but static ones can be routed through without difficulty. You might find some inertia reels that fit the rear parcel shelf (look in the boot for where the mountings are) but it may be tight. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
