More on oil filtering/cooling

I am converting my 2500 sedan to a manual box.
So I am left with the auto oil cooler now being redundant.
I have a spin on oil filter which seems to have provision for an oil cooler.
The question is can I drill and tap and fit outlets to the spin on oil filter body and use the auto box oil cooler as an engine cooler?
With a temperature sensor of course.
Or will the engine oil pressure be to great for the auto cooler?

What about the contamination of the old gearbox oil and engine oil? Might not matter, but I would check first.

I doubt the pressure would be a major problem as I would expect the gearbox pressure to be similar when cold. But don’t know with any facts!

Trolleybus, I hope you mean thermostat as cold oil is also bad for your engine. Other than that, and assuming you can drill, tap and block off the internal oil route, it sound like a good plan.

Cheers, Richard
