Nick Jones
So when you fit vented discs and space your callipers to match, the pad retaining pins become too short. Longer ones are not supplied in the “conversion kit”. What is the standard method for getting around this? I have the earlier callipers with 1/4” pins so buying the pins for the vented M16 (Granada and 2.8 Capri) won’t work.....
GT6M
Mek yer own Nick, either brass rod,or stainless, drill a wee wol in each end, and fit some R clips https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/R-Clip-To-Fit-Brake-Pad-Pin-Retainer-4-PACK-Large/181570538183?hash=item2a46728ac7:g:s~UAAOSwA~VaBFHk simples really, its wot I did, when the original mild steel type rotted away M
Clive
It it not worth drilling the callipers to accept the metric pin? Then no hassle fitting decent pads of your choice.
johny
I believe the metric pin is smaller diameter than the imperial one so drilling the callipers no help....

This is true...... usually I have to drill the pads! 9 hours ago, GT6M said: Mek yer own Nick, either brass rod,or stainless, drill a wee wol in each end, and fit some R clips Thanks Marcus. That was my plan B but should probably be plan A as you say. I am visiting an R-clip shop later anyway......

Clive
Doh!brain fade again. Well, it is-11 wherein am. Yes metric pins smaller. He about pressing in a brass/bronze sleeve to reduce the size of the hole in the caliper. A friend did that on his gitfire so he could easily use the metric pads. Have found some 1/4" bolts with shanks long enough to serve as pins. Will reduce the heads, cut the excess off and drill for an R-clip. This after hunting for the brass rod that I'm sure I have but can't find.......
