Sue Franklin
Help - my driver's side door window is rattling and appears to be looser than the nearside?
Pete Lewis
Sue, is this on your herald ? Does the glass rattle in channels or a mechanism rattle from behind the door card?? Pete
Colin Lindsay
You may need to replace the runner, or at the very least the rubber channel in it - there are two runners, one on either side of the glass, that it runs up and down in. Not a difficult job once you actually get access... door innerhandles and door cards off, plus the plastic weather curtain if you have one, and you'll be able to see what's amiss. Or, you can just squint down the door from the top with the glass down and see what moves about that shouldn't.
Pete Lewis
If the channel has lost its fit you can buy it in lengths but take pics or sketches of the channel and brackets as you have to remove the bracket to re rivet on a new channel, and its easy to fit the things all back to front and needs a short tube extension to a pop rivet nozzle to reach into the channel , as the std wont reach down inside enough to pull the rivet up. Between the bottom of the two channels is a wire link which stops the bottom of the channels spreading when you slam the door with the glass down, ie keeps the channels a close fit to the glass, this is often missing p no. 704643 Pete
