Black Cat Posted September 25, 2020 Report Posted September 25, 2020 Hi, Is the filler card for the rear edge of the hardtop which forms part of the roof lining still available and if so where, if not available, what is it made of and what other options are there for this material?
Badwolf Posted September 25, 2020 Report Posted September 25, 2020 BC - Your trim boards look just like mine. They don't appear to be available, but I intend to remake mine in due course with some 2mm board and off cuts from the headlining fabric. You have the remains from which to fabricate a pattern so it shouldn't be too difficult. I would advise 2mm board, which is actually picture framing backing board rather that the 3mm/4mm that comes from the diy outlets. Your local picture framers should sell you some of their offcuts for a couple of quid. Spray contact adhesive and some rivets and away you go. One question for the intelligence... Why do these boards appear to be fitted with hood poppers when there is no chance of them being used for hood, tonneau or anything else that I can think off?
Black Cat Posted September 25, 2020 Author Report Posted September 25, 2020 They are made in three sections and the two return ends get very narrow and could possible break and I was wondering what would be a suitable material to use. Don't think hardboard would do but the two end sections need to have some flexibility.
KevinR Posted September 25, 2020 Report Posted September 25, 2020 I think the stuff you need is millboard, available from Woolies Trim https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/category/146/millboard
Black Cat Posted September 26, 2020 Author Report Posted September 26, 2020 Thanks Kevin, I had forgotten about them.
Badwolf Posted September 26, 2020 Report Posted September 26, 2020 I had forgotten about Millboard. Which ever you use, I would consider sealing it with a varnish or waterproof PVA before applying the fabric covering to stop it absorbing moisture.
