dougbgt6 Posted July 19, 2015 Report Posted July 19, 2015 As far as I can find out the GT6 got a new head and domed pistons from 1972. Mine is a 73 and still has it’s original engine confirmed my heritage certificate. But I’m pretty sure, from what I remember (20 years ago), the engine had flat top pistons and got the same when it was rebuilt. Did they revert to flat top in 73 or have I got the wrong pistons? (A bit late to be worrying now!) Presumably if I’ve got the right head and the wrong pistons I’d have a lower compression ratio. Is this why I never overheat? Or why my engine is impervious to tweaking? Am I the only GT6 driver worried about NOT overheating?
thescrapman Posted July 20, 2015 Report Posted July 20, 2015 you should be able to tell if you have a dome-topped piston suitable head by measuring, and you can see the domes through a plug hole, if you have them. Cheers
Pete Lewis Posted July 24, 2015 Report Posted July 24, 2015 if you cant see ive got a endoscope, you may need to wipe the lense first !!!!! Pete
