daverclasper
Hi. Has got worse over time and now pretty noisy. Is this just the adjustment for the parking/rest position, as described in WSM?. Thanks, Dave
Pete Lewis
no, just prise the arm off its splined spindle and reposition it a little higher do check the pipe nut on the motor and the pipe clamps on the wheel boxes are tight any loose pipe will exaggerate wiper slopy movement you can remove the arms remove rge rack drive and tune it over to run on an unused portion didnt we do this on a twiddle day ?? stick a simple a card needle to the wiper splined drive point up now pull the rack out turn rack over then refit turn the pointer 1/2 turn so when refitted pointer is downwards so the reversed rack now runs on more unused wheel box teeth sometimes these little changes can make a good improvement Pete

daverclasper
Thanks, I don't remember it on the twiddle day I attended?, though could be wrong. Will relocate the wiper arm (did think of this, but thought there may be groove/tab within the spines for one position only). Cheers
daverclasper
Hi. Will be moving the arm/arms soon. I gather there's a small clip which is part of the arm assembly. Is it a case of prising the clip open and at the same time levering the arm up, off the splines?. Is this straight forward, any tips?, or potential problems, eg, arm fused to splines with corrosion/clip disintegrating through corrosion?. Cheers, Dave
Pete Lewis
normally with a pad or bit of timber you just with a decent screwdrive lever /prise the arm off the spline not all have the small retaining clip you mention but it wont fly off into the grass even grab hold of the arm and give it a good wiggle will release the arm from the spline drive yes the dive can be worn , then its a new wheel box I dont think you will have any problems swapping the arm position there are adaptors about that if you manage to remove the slpine you can repair with a spline and clamp screw affair to fit on a bare spindle CA395: Windscreen wiper arm convertor (shaft to spline) - Sundries - Windscreen and Wipers - Vintage Car Parts
