  1. Sorry for the really late response but I'm just starting to think about how to do this.... Pete - your idea of threading a bolt through the cage (assuming I cut access holes) could work but how would you stop the bolt from turning when you attach the nut? Would you need to spot weld the bolt in place? Thanks for all the feedback Robin
  2. Thanks Dave - what's confusing me is that most pictures I've looked at don't seem to have a nipple - just a plate - so I'm wondering if this needs any lunbrication?
  3. My front ball joints have grease nipples instead of the flat plate that seems to be more common. Can anyone advise if this needs grease or oil and if so what type? Thanks Robin
  4. Hi Richard Just starting to fit the seats but have one quick question The front mounting points on the mgf seats (just in front of the tensioning bar) are attached to the runners by what looks like two round rivets - how did you remove these? Thanks Robin
  5. Hi - realise this is an old post but I'd like to replace my almost non-existing floor insulation but think the dynamat route is probably a bit expensive. Had anyone tried any cheaper options. Thanks Robin
  6. Hi Richard Sounds good - will get some 5mm bars made up and give it a go Once again thanks for explaining Robin
  7. Hi Richard That's great - thanks for explaining. The reason I asked about removing the mgf crossbar was that from the photos it looked as though this would sit below the level of the two new 5mm bars that's subsequently fitted but I guess this isn't a problem? Robin
  8. Hi Tom I've attached a photo showing the bracket that came with my mgf seats - it fits ok but is a little high. If I remove the mgf cross bar ( the one with the blue rivets) and then make up the two brackets as shown previously by Classiclife then I assume this should fit? Any thoughts ? Thanks Robin
  9. Hi TomL & Classiclife - I've just picked up a couple of mgf seats for my vitesse - can you explain a little further how you managed to get the seats to tilt forward? Thanks Robin

    GT6 Flywheel

Ah - I see. My vitesse is currently fitted with a 2000 engine which actually goes really well but at some point would like to fit a Gt6 or vitesse engine - it's just a case of finding a good one ! Robin

    GT6 Flywheel

Hi Hag Sounds good advice - out of interest why are you swapping your Gt6 engine? Robin

    GT6 Flywheel

Hi Clive - just checked and I've got a single unit with no solenoid attached. Thanks for the advice. Robin

    GT6 Flywheel

Hi Clive How would I check if I've got a 2000 starter? So if I want to find a separate flywheel I guess I'm looking to find a second hand one - if so is there anything I need to look out for? Thanks

    GT6 Flywheel

Clive - sorry, the engine is for my vitesse mk 2 which currently has a 2000 unit fitted

    GT6 Flywheel

Hi Clive Yes - I think it is a 'feel'. If I wen't ahead my plan would be to source a new flywheel rather than swap my 2000 - is it a straightforward fit? Also am I better buying new or is used ok? Thanks

    GT6 Flywheel

Apologies if this is a dumb question but I've got the chance of buying a Mk3 gt6 engine as a replacement for my mk2 2000 - it's not running but the owner says it can be cranked over and shows good compression. It's complete but missing the flywheel so my question is (here's the dumb bit) - do I just need to source a flywheel (if so how much) or is there more to it? Also if it does turn over with good compression is it worth fitting (and hoping) or would you say it needs a strip down and check - presumably an expensive job? Many thanks Robin
  18. Thanks Richard - sounds like a spring/ summer job!
  19. Thanks for the advice - so maybe the sanding discs are the way to go. What's the best bare metal primer to use?
  20. Hi Guys Just wanted to pick up this thread again I've managed to get a passenger door for my vitesse and I want to take it back to bare metal to assess what needs to be done before respraying. The options seem to be either rubbing down (long and dusty) or paint stripper (very messy). Would sandblasting be another option and if so is this expensive? Thanks
  21. Good idea. - will give them a call
  22. Bit of an odd one but does anyone have any idea how much a vitesse door with glass weighs? I may need to get one collected but the courier needs to know how heavy it is. Thanks
