  1. How many bottles do you have to collect before you can send off for the Aston Martin though?
  2. The NYMR is one of my favourites. If you do make the journey north then stopping off at York and / or Shildon for the national railway museums is worthwhile too!
  3. That’s a lovely set of photos! I know of a classic hire place in Newcastle. Never used them and don’t know what part of the country you’re in though. Also just looked and the only Triumph they advertise is a TR6 so not what you’re after. Still, there will be someone around.
  4. You'll be able to fabricate most of the missing parts for sure. If there's damage right on the nose that might be a little harder to shape, but should be doable. You'll need the repair section and some long strips of metal. I would get the repair section tacked in the right place, possibly with some temporary bits of metal to hold it to what remains of the bonnet, then I'd fill in the gaps between the repair section using a method very like the one in this video:
  5. Oh wow I see what you mean about the extra material. The original 13/60 ones definitely aren't like that. Not that it matters of course! The interior's looking great.
  6. Videoing stuff again - repairing the windscreen frame and making a gutter from scratch
  7. In a similar vein, I found name brand 4 cylinder oil filters for sale https://store.ukboatyard.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1212 they’re actually Napa rather than Fram (they rang up to clarify after I ordered), and cheaper than most other sources of no name ones.
  8. There’s a code too - bankhol10 - which makes it £47.70 for two
  9. I’d guessed the cam profile would be different as it is between the Herald and Spitfire. But Casper’s courier link as proved me wrong and looks like all 1500s had the same cam. Rationalisation or emissions? Anyone know?
  10. Jigsaw are not completely gone. They’re still selling on eBay as lemans-r.
  11. One of the things I rather like about this forum is that nobody gets particularly upset about thread topics meandering a little. I can’t say I’ve too much expertise, but I feel the claims of that welder you mention might be accurate for nice fresh steel and not necessarily hold up once you start on old car panels. For ‘having a go’ £300 for the Clarke and then eventually about £100 for a gas bottle (most of that was deposit) definitely hasn’t been a bad choice.
  12. Shoot Mike Papworth an email (details should be in the courier ad or I can send over his email address) before going to Rimmers. He will be able to give you advice, almost certainly supply you with a replacement case, or sell you a recon if that’s what you end up needing. He’s probably rebuilt more TSSC gearboxes and diffs than the whole of this forum membership put together!
  13. Oh thanks! The welder I have is a Clarke 135TE and I use HobbyWeld 5 gas with it. I’ve used it pretty heavily with the Spitfire and now the Herald, and it’s stood up remarkably well. Nowadays I feel I’d like finer power control but I can manage with the four settings it has. As I’ve never actually used another welder I can’t offer a comparative opinion though.
  14. Colin had a thread a few months back with some Herald springs marked ‘front’ on the leaves. I think the conclusion was it meant nobody had to wonder at the factory if it should go one way or the other!
  15. I’m slowly getting to the point of being able to paint my Herald’s bulkhead. Really looking forward to it and your photos are only making me more impatient!
  16. Wear, and grease that’s now closer in consistency to concrete!
  17. Looks like the ratio should be the same https://www.teglerizer.com/triumphstuff/spit_and_gt6_specs.htm I’m not well up enough on diffs to say anything for certain though.
  18. Experimenting again with videos - repairing the last bit of floor and fitting a body mount
  19. I took my Herald’s head off to do the HG complete with manifolds. Someone might be along to tell us that’ was a terrible idea, but I completed the job successfully and the engine is still running fine 15 years later!
  20. Interesting Iain, hadn’t come across that before.
  21. I reckon it'll need to be done reeealllly slow to avoid warping. Like do a run of tack welds, go have a cup of tea, come back do another pass, have another cup of tea, that sort of speed!
  22. Oh dear! I see you decided to paint it then. I can see Paddocks sell a repair section https://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/bonnet-front-repair-3 but I’ve no idea how good or bad it is.
  23. Searched for the reg and found some photos at the Crich Tramway Village in 2015. Might be worth messaging the photographer there in case he got the owner’s name at the time. Bit of a long shot as it’s a few years ago now, but you never know! (The photo is a link to flikr with another picture and the photographer’s details)
  24. Well, the refurb pump had to come off and go back to EP Services for a re-refurb as it was leaking too. Tried something a bit different though, rather than taking photos I've made a video of the process (took flipping ages to do!)
  25. The radius arm brackets for the short driveshaft cars were further outboard than those for the long driveshaft cars. I think your later heelboard should have holes for both though as in the image below. Probably the simplest thing for you to do is make sure you have the early brackets and use the outermost holes. It looks like you are already from your photos though.
