  1. You're right Mathew, just taking my time, hope it warms up a bit for you to paint 👍🏻😎
  2. Well, after 6 days in hospital with the dreaded covid 19, A month off work, cant believe I didnt do anything for a whole month 😳 Finally getting better and managed to get back in the garage and stripped the OS A pillar, yep just as knackered as the NS was, few repairs to the screen metal then Ill make the closing section and weld up, then make the screen gutter piece, happy day on Sunday. Glad to be better 😎
  3. You cant keep taking a car outside though to cut stuff off especially in our lovely uk weather
  4. Lol my garage was a shit tip before this picture, grinder dust everywhere but thats usually normal haha
  5. Happy New Year 😎 Back on it after fitting some new LED lights and a clear up. Finished the A and B pillar completely and etch primed ready to prep for paint. Just to stop rust issues after a good wire brushing
  6. Covid has killed my trade, only doing 3 half days a week so got a job at the sorting office with Royal Mail, 3pm to 8pm to save my sanity lol, only for Christmas period but its sparking life back into me to do more on the GT6. Will be back on it now Ive completed first week and hope you all have a good break 👍🏻😎
  7. Ah, thankyou for all the input on the gearbox. It was only an idea up to now as Ive previously owned a midget that I converted to type 9 with Frontline conversion kit. It transformed the car to be able to cruise nicely on the motorway, which we put to full use in the later years of owning it (28), only sold it as lost interest and bought the GT6. My gearbox has overdrive so, with your advise, once Ive got the body off the chassis in the next few months Ill probably have it rebuilt/upgraded, Thankyou 😎
  8. Looks brilliant, theres some top chassis work there. Mines going to be standard looking on the outside, not decided on the interior yet but have an idea 😁 I am thinking about a Type 9 gearbox as its the cars downfall the standard box, lots of problems and people just say oh its its weak area the gearbox, so thinking once its rebuilt and Im enjoying it, I dont want to have to take the gearbox out again etc 😎 Thanks for the link Ill have another look over the weekend cheers
  9. Managed to buy a good ex hot climate tailgate, fits same as other original, tight on one side and large gap nearside, just needs holes in hinges elongating to move it slightly. Phew this lockdown is getting to me and taken slight enthusiasm away not good, hope you're all keeping well. Ill get back on it in the next few days hopefully, work pattern is erratic atm
  10. Not quite but not a billion miles off, still some fiddly bits to do and start on the chassis 😎
  11. Finally finished the structural welding 😎
  12. Tap the lip outwards of the inner sill to make up the gap if its only 2mm see if that sorts it
  13. Alex so if you pull the sill top towards you so the outer is then flush with the door where you want it how much of a gap is there between the top lip of outer sill and inner/strengthener lip?
  14. Cheers chaps, took a good day or two to prepare the fit and adjust etc, then fully prep inside and paint then weld it on. Should outlast me anyway lol, the closer at front and the rear lower section and that will be the full structural work done. The rear window lip and bulkead bits and battery tray to do, keep going with head down 👍🏻😎
  15. Outer sill fully spot welded on, did a few plug welds to make sure, had spot welder on full power 2mm thickness just below full length time, done a great job. This sill fits really good, just had to put a small piece in one of the joints as had to open slightly but gaps are great, just got to tinker with door to bonnet happy day 😎😎😎👍🏻
  16. Trial fitting outer sill Friday see where Im at 👍🏻
  17. Cheers I like to make a solid job, the outer sills I plug weld as it is 3x thickness on the top section and as powerful as the spot welder is I think it struggles, it should do it on maximum settings but I dont like to abuse it, and was quite expensive. Brilliant though for doing the inner and strengthener sills
  18. Inner sill and strengthener all welded up with the spot welder, all painted inside after trial fit, few bits mig welded where the arms couldnt get in, great afternoon 😎👍🏻
  19. Floor finished and trial fit inner sill today
  20. Been cutting out the bodgery today at the rear heel board, eurgh what a mess triple rust sandwich and heavily coated in the black goo, Ive been putting it off lol but its gone now, just lots of repair panels to make but first one welded in today, happy day
  21. I know Mathew, I do a small job like that once in a while and think Ill get a tap set and never do lol Just the rear part of floor +4 rust sandwich to cut out and repair, hot today had enough 😎 getting there slowly
  22. Bit more done today, repaired the hinge plate by drilling out bigger, grinding my nuts lol and pressed into plate welded on the rear, neanderthal I know but Ive no tap set lol Started cutting rest of the rust sandwich floor edge out too
