  1. Ah well I bit the bullet and ordered one today from Rimmer bros 😎
  2. Thanks for the replies, Im doing a full rebuild at the moment full door refurbs including the skins and full sills so I can sort out the gaps no problems, everything Ive restored using heritage or non genuine panels have all had to be adjusted etc. In fact, a few mini restos ago I managed to buy an original Rover old stock wing for one side, it went straight on no adjusting or anything, couldnt believe it lol To find a mint used bonnet seems impossible, Id repair mine but like said someone has jumped on it at some point and the bulge is a mess
  3. Evening , Im thinking it might be best to just buy the above rather than repair mine, main reason being the hump has been stood on in the past, aswell as wings, headlight panels and surrounds and strengthener at front need replacing. Anywhere the best place to get one from and whats the fit like if youve fitted one please Cheers Iain.
  4. If the paint has been stored in dry warmish conditions there will be no problem with the paint I replaced a rear wing on a midget I painted in 1998 with the same leftover paint matched perfectly no problems, paint was around 20 years old Did a scooter earlier in the year with the same paint I did one around 5 years ago, same no problems, decent paint though
  5. Cheers, Id thought of MX5 seats and bucket seats, they look good those Nigel. The look of some new style mini cooper S seats look nice too and are comfy enough, we have and have had a few of those as daily cars. Yes re foaming them would make them more comfy but I think they look too flat and old style. Cheers for your replies πŸ‘
  6. Anybody got an idea of what seats from a more modern car would fit nicely in a GT6, any pictures? Cheers
  7. The beauty with cellulose or 2k is its workability if you get a run or orange peel. You can flat it and polish. I always paint stuff with the garage heated and if its a small panel or upwards to say a Vespa body, I use a heat gun to warm the bodywork up first and always use antibloom thinners. The last two scooters Ive painted I didnt have to do a thing to the paintwork after spraying. Ill put a pic on of last one. Always have separate airlines for tools and spraygun, have my compressor in the shed at rea of garsge and water trap in garage mid airline feed before gun airline. Always use degreaser/panelwipe before painting, I always do this just before painting.
  8. Hello there, I like Vitesses too, currently restoring a GT6 now 😎 Hope you get one soon!
  9. Waiting for panels and door bottom repair section so fixed the door carcass this last few days, put a new rear lip on too
  10. Happy Easter metal bashing, thought Id make front floor half while waiting for all sill sections 😎 Not quite there just need to cut out the front section then line up with the sills
  11. Hello, Im new here too, great site and friendly people. Try rocking the car back and forth while someone gently moves the gearstick to neutral
  12. Well, I rang Chic Doig, really helpful bloke, gave me a few pointers and said start with the door and build the sills etc to match up the panel gaps, makes sense, ordered the lot from him, outer heritage sills 83ish plus vat but he's giving discount etc on the stuff he can do like door bottom repair and extended at the front up to the hingeπŸ‘ Re heritage stuff yes I've had some varying fits on minis and midget panels, all adjustable etc, but the good thing with them is the steel grade is better, the worst I've had were a mini MK2 done just before the GT6, the inner A panel hinge parts didn't line up with the outer ones and had to cut them out and move about 40mm, you get to know which panels fit best once you've done a few etc, if I had to do that MK2 again I'd use pattern inners and heritage outers, but at least we can still get panels so happy days. Only thing I didn't buy was a floor section, I'd rather fabricate the 60mm wide section than change the whole panel as the rest is good. Pity you can't get that as a section. Once again thanks for all input very appreciated 😎
  13. Cheers Colin, I'd noticed that re Canleys only doing repro, thanks for looking, I think 75 for heritage is a really good price! Moss, wow, I've lined their pockets in the past and restored a midget completely using their heritage stuff. Thanks πŸ‘
  14. Cheers Ill cut the rest of the outer off tomorrow and see what the inners are like then get ringing πŸ‘
  15. Had a look on Rimmers site and got their catalogue for GT6, they do original presumably Heritage at 103 quid and repro ones at 65ish, theres no way they are made by the same firm with a price difference like that, repro stuff usually is thinner grade steel, will give Chic a ring and been told try Canleys classics Cheers πŸ‘
  16. Oh dear, the sills are bollocksed , I shouldnt be surprised really, whos sills are best?
  17. Alreet mi hearties πŸ˜† RRRRRRRR Yes a big job breaking out, but not that big, it was restored in 1990 and has faired quite well, just doing stuff that probably wasnt rotted at the time like B posts and A posts repairs. The roof was fibreglassed over a crude plate bodged in dont know why anyone would go to the extremes of a full bare metal respray (I have pics) and full invoices statement theyed put a full roof panel in and bodge it but there ya go. It was originally brown😳 then done red, then full (ish) resto of inner and outer sills and rear wings. They also state theyed fitted new front lower wings hmmmm. Anyway lots to do, just going tackling a bit more now, heres a pic of o/s B post repair I did the other day πŸ‘
