  1. Great venue Sue, looking forward to it already.
  2. The standard dynamo cable on a 13/60 will only carry 25amp, make sure you upgrade to suitable size. The lucas alternators have 2 large connectors so it's just a matter of running an additional cable back to the battery. There's a good article on the TSSC Devon website on how to convert. http://www.northcotts.clara.net/tsscdevon/tsscdevon.html Just follow the 'Technical' link.
  3. For the moment I have fitted 2 flexible LED strips on the rear lenses on the central chrome strip, bought from Ebay for £1.99 including shipping. I have no idea if they will give out sufficient light, but for that price and as they just stick on can be taken off in minutes, there's no harm done. If you're not looking for them, then you really don't notice they are there.
  4. Thanks Guys, thought that's how it was. Cheers
  5. Apologies for hijacking someone else's post....1 question regarding the body mount kits. The rubber strip that runs along where the front & rear tubs join, should that be fitted between the chassis outriggers and the front tub or in-between the join of the front and rear tubs, have been told both so am now unsure.
  6. I generally use Gower & Lee for SU Parts, helpful & knowledgably guys and price and service seem very good. I have used Burlen Ltd before and is I think the biggest supplier for SU Parts. You don't necessarily need to have the carb bodies bushed, often new spindles will be enough. Andrew Turner or Carburettor Exchange should be able to help if you do.
  7. Just a coincidence I guess, will see what happens as the tank empties. I have some hotter (rather than the colder I fitted) plugs on the way, so this may help. I am going to re-route the fuel pipe also, it currently runs round the back of the engine and goes pretty close to the exhaust manifold and heater pipes so may have some adverse effects.
  8. Do you have any pics of them fitted? I did think about fitting MGB reverse lights in the boot recess, but the badges on the right of the number plate make it a bit crowded to fit anything. To the left would be fine but then to have a single light would look a little odd.
  9. With my soon to be fitted OD gearbox I would like to add a reverse lamp(s) to the Herald. Easy option would be to fit something like this on the rear valance: But I don't really like them. Or I could track down one from a Vitesse: But they seem fairly scarce and sell for quite a bit of money. Anyone out there done something a bit more imaginative? If so could you post a pic? Thanks.
  10. Could there be any connection between fuel level in the tank and running on? The running on started coming back last night and again this morning as the fuel level dropped from around 1/3 to touching the red. Brimmed the tank with regular unleaded and hasn't done it since. Might be just a coincidence and have never noted fuel level before when problem arose. Any thoughts?
  11. Thanks Colin, you are correct, this is from the NGK website: Peter, too cooler plug will lead to carbon build-up, here's a short video. I initially done the same as you by using just a ColourTune and plug condition, even what seemed to be correct showed a CO2 reading of around 5.0% when using along side a Gunson Gastester. Mine is now running with a CO2 reading around 3.0%, so I think the ColorTune does give quite a wide range when it indicates it's at the correct mixture. Darren
  12. I have viewed the Forum on Chrome, IE, FF, Safari and Smartphone, all formats are displaying with the most recent item last. Don't think it's just affecting mobile versions. You can select the filter to show most recent, but then just goes back when you change sections.
  13. Have used these guys a few times, always very good and well priced: Propshaft Services Feltham
  14. So one week on from fitting hotter plugs (BP7ES) and so far no running on an still using standard unleaded, so fingers crossed. One thing I should have mentioned regarding the quick carbon build-up, when checking plugs they have always been a nice biscuity brown colour....
  15. Fit a solid state voltage stabiliser http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=380747658712&alt=web Gives a constant 10v
  16. Canleys do them http://www.canleyclassics.com/searchforapart/?desc=VALVE%20STEM%20OIL%20SEAL%20(INLET%20ONLY)
  17. Thanks Pete. Might start with 0.25° and monitor.
  18. Any decent paint supplier should be able to match a colour if you take in a small sample, like the headlamp surround for example.
  19. In a bundle of Herald bits I bought I got a 10 spline clutch friction plate that measures 7 1/8" in diameter rather than the 6 1/2" that fits a Herald. Any ideas what it's from? Also, any ideas what to clean off any contamination from a friction plate whilst it's out of the car? Brake or Carb cleaner maybe?
  20. I had to change a Track Rod End so am starting from scratch really, but did tweak it out a little (not using the Trackace, just by guestimate) and it did feel quite different, probably went too far. I have new wheels and tyres to go on the car next week so was going to re-check with the Trackace, it is a bit fiddly to set up, but does seem accurate. So if I'm aiming to set 1.5/3.0mm of toe in unladen, but the Trackace measures in Degrees & Minutes, what should I be aiming for? I have never checked the rears, but should. They always seem to wear evenly. Darren
  21. I had a vibration on a propshaft that had been professionally balanced, turned one of the yokes round 180° and it fixed it.
  22. Pete - As the author of the very detailed post for setting up wheel alignment in the last forum, do you agree with Enuo? From memory I recall it was to ballast all 4 seats when setting.
  23. Pete, Gett the revs up to about 1100 and it's nice and smooth. Definite downside to non-standard is not knowing what should be right, but it's fun trying to get there. My local garage won't stock anything other than standard unleaded, say there's no demand. Marc, Did run the car for about 2 months on Esso Super unleaded but made no appreciable difference though at that point the engine would have been pretty carboned up by then. Did read on another forum a while back that octane boosters don't actually work, not sure how they knew. Looks like a rolling road session is the way to go.
  24. I've only ever done the odd tight turn, so wouldn't have thought it would be the cause, Thanks
  25. A while back I used my Trackace to set up the front wheel alignment on my 13/60. I had weight in all 4 seats as recommended in the WSM and adjusted to 0°. 4-5000 miles later the front tyres are both showing greater wear on the inside edges. I couldn't see any toe in/out settings in the WSM, so does anyone know if 0° is in fact correct? Darren
