  1. One cone filter up front. Its an original air box that I modified. No filters inside the box. The box itself needs to be re-done as I want it to be nicer.
  2. What do you guess this morning? Slow cranking of the starter, battery on its way out. Before the HG went I had it a few times to. Ordered a new battery now.
  3. I did notice a blow from the exhaust manifold against the head.. This morning got my spare gasket on it ( now need Payen HG as spare and manifold gaskets !). Now it doesnt blow and driving well. Done a 40/50km trip today to see how well she drives. Done it good !
  4. 13,5mm of lenght. Valve guide diameter was 0.5inch / 12.7mm Front hole the valve guide/plug went in good. Rear hole it needed sanding off (not much) until it could fit.
  5. Today picked her up. Adjusted mixture and timing. Drove around the school a few times and on the street. Has a lot better torque at the low end and more power. And running very smooth ! But could hear a noise. After a good look, exhaust manifold is leaking. Seems the new gasket between head and manifold isnt the best (was also renewed now). After coming home she got a wash and stopped at my uncle. He came out of his house faster then I could come out of Fox ! He was amazed how nice it was running
  6. Then it was time for the head etc. Then wanted to fire her up... no go. Checked timing, but when turning her by hand could hear and feel a rattle... Eventually after checking dizzy gear etc, found the starter was turning... stuck bendix ! Removed oil sender T piece etc to get starter out. Cleaned it up and then it fired uo from the first try ! Checked timing after i let her run for 15 to 20min at around 2000rpm. It was spot on ! Was amazed that it sounded so well. Minor leak at the bottom rad hole, jublee clip was bad. Did drive her for the full 15meters to her parking spot.
  7. Today been busy.. Let 2 bushes made up from a bronze valve guide. Tapped them in the blind holes in the block.... 1 was stuck. Even with a puller it didnt want to come out ! So drilled it out, more bushes made and a bit shorter. That did it ! Again big thanks to Mike (Sparky spit) for the tip !
  8. Fitted the new cam, follwers, set the timing & put the cover on.
  9. Seems the PH2 cams they do sell. Or around the same profile. But no PH1. Making the bush can be done at work/school in the motorcycle class
  10. Im not fitting bronze valve guides.. Its for another thing on the engine. Look at the link of Mike/ Sparky spit!
  11. Mike, also found out a bronze valve guide can be fitted to (cut down ) Valve guide is 12.70mm Hole in block 12.50mm
  12. Now getting a new standard cam + followers.
  13. Would have liked that. But cant get one thanks to brexit. Income tax is more then the parts. And time..
  14. Camshaft was original (315.000kms) Followers where renewed, but seems we didnt look at the camshaft very well..
  15. That looks like a nice mod ! Teacher that helped me came to look and was a bit shocked that made it so weak.. Will have a look, maybe we can knock up something up like you did. Thanks Sparky !
  16. Hi. 6 Months ago fitted another head, headgasket, pistons etc after 305.000km and 42 years old. Now after 10.000kms the headgasket went, coolant getting out of the rad, day after white smoke out of the rear. Head is getting a light skim as not fully flat. Now I was cleaning the block and found out the cam followers are again pitted. Looked at the cam.. also pitted 😕
  17. Gasket failed. Head will be skimmed very light.
  18. It is for sure HG. Never had it smoking so bad. After standing at trafficlights, drove on with a heavy foot and could not see the car behind me anymore ! Checked compression all had around 175psi. Exept 4 is 165psi.. but not bad. But when turning the engine on the starter without plugs in, white smoke coming out of no.4 And again water pissing out if the overflow/rad cap. So im pretty sure its HG...
  19. Strange that mine lasted 5 to 6 months and 6200 miles (yes she gets used ! ).
  20. Today white smoke from the exhaust on the way to home... feck And more evidence that something has failed..
  21. And now it went all bad... New bonnet was wet inside of coolant incl front of engine and rad.. Whole night to find looking, testing to find the leak.. Rad cap seems to be at fault, but still not right... Now to look for parts locally because with Brexit etc 🙄
  22. My car has very good temp and never had it overheat. Do got an alloy wide rad. So just need a fan for standing in traffic really and that happens daily as I work not far from Brussels.
  23. When I checked for play I could see it move. But not a lot 1mm or less. So still dont know what to do. Im thinking to fit a fixed one for now and see.
  24. Hi, This evening noticed something missing on my viscous fan.. Then noticed a little bit of play on the coupling itself. Now what to do.. Fit another non viscous waterpump and fixed fan Or.. Go electric ? Already got an alloy wide rad.
