  1. Nick, The seam of the seal (where the two ends are together). Should that be at the bottom or the top ? On Fox now its at the bottom. But the manual (a bentley book i think ive seen it in) said that it needed to be at the bottom... I have put the new seal around the new glass and only could fit it with the seam at the top. Could you take a look for me or ask Chris ?
  2. Hi all, my red/orange Koni shocks are getting rusty. Does anyone know the paint code or RAL-color ? (Wanted to upload a pic.. but would not upload)
  3. Hi all, Someone asked me to look at there A-type overdrive. Since a few years it been slower to get 'in'. Not nothing anymore.. So today had a look. Electrical works fine, tested pressure... nothing. Gave all the valves a good clean. Also remove the panel that holds the solenoid & lots of swarf there. Cleaned the oil pump valve. But.. behind the big long spring where 2 extra washers.. There was some 'work' done to the OD before he got it so it seems.. So.. everything cleaned, all swarf out etc. Solenoid adjusted as per manual. Still dead, no pressure. Anyone got idea's ?
  4. Colin, I do now have double valve springs are original 1500 spec. Would this still be good ? πŸ€”
  5. Yes i know that I could use cam bearings. But in my opinion, another thing that can go wrong.. As I do a lot of kms/miles, want it 'sort off' bullet proof.
  6. Had a look on newman cams and bastuck. Ph1 of newman is pretty close to mk3 spec. But again bastuck doesnt sell anything like mk3 cam that fits in a 1500. Only mk3 cams with cam bearings.
  7. Only other place that I found to sell the mk3 profile on large journals.. https://www.canleyclassics.com/?product=camshafts But in the UK..
  8. Ok, will contact the seller. Otherwise I will need to stick with my standard one... thanks to brexit.
  9. Seen a dutch supplier selling re-grounded cams to mk3 profile. Would that be trusted ? I had the bearing numbers om my friend his TR6 build, the machine shop ordered NΓΌral pistons and Glyco bearings. So got the part no. Sadly non to find..
  10. Hi all, I've been planning an engine rebuild on my Spit 1500 engine with 324.000kms/201.000miles. Its using a fair bit of oil. Last year changed the head etc. It needs a re-bore, crank re-grind etc. Soo.. Been thinking of fitting an MK3 profile cam. What are the positive and negative things fitting it? Also pistons, what are the best to use ? county, nΓΌral ? Bearings: county 3 metal, glyco ?
  11. Hi, recently got some people that cant drive. Seems people dont care etc.. (corona ? ). So been looking for a dashcam thats small enough to not stand out in/on a Spitfire 1500. Had seen a twin motorcycle one. Anyone got any idea's ? Regards, Wim.
  12. There is a post on going here on the forum. Best rubber is from COH Baines, so ordered 2 of them. So hopefully its all going to fit.
  13. Because water is getting in from the screen for years. The rubber was new in 2013, but never fitted right.. The screen itself had a lot of little markings on it + moisture getting between the layers of glass. And... driving in the sun is a bit of a nightmare as its nearly like the moon. Very tiny spots all over.. but its in the glass.. I do suspect and could just see rust at the spot where it leaks. So its the only way to go ! πŸ™„
  14. Fitted the uprated ones to 3 Triumphs (TR250, TR6 and my own Spitfire) in the last 2 to 3 years. All seem well, hard to fit (for sure the first time). And yes the colomn gets very stiff, but goes away after a few 100 kms/miles of driving.
  15. I do have a spare engine in my stock. Last run 7 years ago, but I do try and turn it every month.
  16. Still lots to do .. Bonnet needs to be adjusted better and trying to reduce the gap at the passenger side (right side for me). Possibly the bonnet needs to come off to get it right. And the windscreen needs taken out etc. Oh.. and then there is the engine πŸ˜…
  17. Another blow over with primer this morning ! Sadly it was 30 degrees outside today and needed to work in the sun.. to hot ! Otherwise I had fixed the dents in the bonnet and given the top panel some primer to. Rest of the week its going to be rainy, that stops play. Slowly getting there !
  18. Ive marked the dents I could see and feel in the bonnet... 23.. yes 23 little dents ! πŸ™„
  19. More done.. Bootlid and rear deck are starting to get better. Back of one door is a bit hard.. But we will get there.
  20. Today.. blocksanding ! + guide coat & spray filler. Tomorrow a few spots need primer again πŸ˜… Its actually not that bad.
  21. Also found out why closing the bonnet it pulled a dent in.. There was a dent in the bulkhead/side panel, just where the guide wheel of the catch is. When you close the catch it pushed the wheel against the bulkhead. With the dent it pushed in to far ! Knocked it back and no more bonnet dent ! Pics of both sides..
  22. Left bonnet panel.. I better replaced this to .. but will try and get it right. It had a massive dent above the catch, when closing the catch.. it got bigger. Got the dent mostly out by shrinking the metal. Hot air gun, hammer and cold water did the trick. But its still not 100 %.
  23. Last 1,5 week im home because of my back and right leg hurting badly. Yesterday needed to get an MRI scan to πŸ™„. Will see now what the docter says, probably a blocked nerve. Now my back is better, still hurts and need to stop ever hour or 2.. But wanted to do some jobs on Fox. Did it while sitting on a chair ... I must be getting old (31 !) 😁. Block sanding, sanding guide etc Needa a bit more primer in spots.
  24. Red is a crack in the metal it seems. Yellow is the whole edge thats more in. Did got that a bit better now.
