  1. 'Cut and Shut, quality cars'. Love it!
  2. Seems to be the case, so regular checking should be all that is needed.
  3. As the song goes 'I'd rather be a hammer than a nail'
  4. Knew it! You paid with cabbage leaves . .
  5. I park mine in neutral with a block against the wheels, and a note inside the car to remind me of the fact (not that I would try and drive off with the block there of course). Handbrake off, if I remember I put a bit more air in the tyres but I rarely do as I try to drive it occasionally. Rechargeable dehumidifiers on the dash ( make me feel I'm helping even if they don't), leave windows open a little. Car is parked outside with a cover plus straps between it and the car to keep an air gap. Remove cover on dry sunny days. Charge the battery from time to time, hardly seems to need it but it keeps it full for when I do take it out. The weather is so warm at present that I used it yesterday to do some shopping, roof down of course, it was SUPERB, hope to use it again next week - will need some of that liquid gold in the tank though.
  6. Yes, interesting reading. Maybe 'Colin is an `old wife` after all, as well as an Irish joker' OR still uses very old batteries
  7. You mean you PAY for your fuel, I just wave my plastic card at their machine . .
  8. Are you saying colin is an old wife? 😜 He's far more likely to be an Irish joke(r). But yes what is the reason, I would like to know as well.
  9. If you want to give it some work to do fit it to the car and go for a nice long drive, good for the battery, good for the car & good for you. Over winter I just plug the charger into the battery ( still in the car) from time to time in between the few winter days when I take the car out for a run.
  10. Recently replaced mine by LED with 3 front facing chips and it is noticeably brighter

Some people report problems with Bastuck deliveries. There is also Moss Europe, I've never used them personally. I have used and been happy with Datch. There is also Betaset, again I have used them and happy with them. These last two could well get some of their stock from Bastuck, that was certainly the case with a petrol sender I bought from Datch recently ( it was stamped Bastuck). There are several others in France but I don't recall names as they are more for TR parts rather than Herald. I agree getting supplies from the UK is a real pain, you either pay a huge amount as per Rimmers or cross your fingers and see if the person delivering asks for duty and that you have no idea how much it might be.

For a moment I thought you had forgotten to take your meds
  13. That will blend in fine with the engine bay on my car 😁
  14. Did a bit of searching on the net and once I had the right phrase, BINGO!. Lots of, well several at any rate, hits for what look mike the original version. For some strange reason the suppliers seem to be performance/rally/racing sites. The best deal I found is a company in Spain and in stock. I think I'll take the plunge and order one, not sure if Mrs. would be happy with ' just popping down the road to Spain for a part for the car - don't wait dinner, or breakfast tomorrow, or lunch . . .' Just gone to their site to order and it now says out of stock!
  15. That is interesting, I'll give the netty thing a search for them over here in France.
  16. That's basically what I do, start it, enough choke to keep it running, fit seat belt, open gates (electric so can do it from car) then gentle driving until engine is warm(ish) and no choke.
  17. Thanks Colin, that makes it all very clear & logical. I have found a part number for what I think is the ring cap, 146417, as for the other washers. . . When I have the time and inclination, difficult to get the 2 at the same time 😁, I'll continue the quest
  18. Just looked at the Canley parts drawing, they show the extension, normal cap & a washer not a cap to screw the tube to the master cylinder.
  19. Kilner jar? They had a removable glass part in the lid. A cap like that is what I would have expected too
  20. Just had a look at the time warp 13/60, the seats do look like those in the Vitesse. I don't know what mine look like as I can't see the driver's one when I'm in the car and I am too busy looking at the traffic to look at the passenger one. does that mass muster for an excuse reason, Colin: I also looked at the 13/60 brake master cylinder extension, it looks as if it is just pushed into the basic unit then the cap put on top, is this correct please. I've just located a NOS one 'up the road a bit' in Germany it is just the plastic bit, no cap, washer or anything.
  21. They do look a bit 13/60ish but I'm not totally convinced. you mean the light unit that isn't level fitted on the rear number plate light housing? I wonder if it is really a number plate light not reversing light? Either way needs sorting. Beginning to wonder what other delights are dotted around the car . . .
  22. YUP! As per the clutch one in your photo. I might look up the part number for the extension piece and add it to my potential purchase list if I can source one here.
  23. Intrestingly enough my 13/60 has just the basic reservoirs for both clutch & brakes. Should I be worried? I have to say that so far I haven't had any problems due to not having the extension on the brake reservoir. That's jinxed it for the next run I go on 😱
  24. In the description of the Vitesse it says the fuel gauge doesn't work and that it is the sender. Why hasn't it been fixed? For that price it should be, I know if I was buying it I would insist the gauge was sorted. Driver's seat looks either ripped or worn, or maybe just shadow in the photo.
