I recommend you use a piece of straight bar or better still angle to use as a support for the stamps so they are straight.
And of course practice on some scrap till you are happy

Actually my original plate is all over the place, nothing is lined up! but it's a good tip, cheers.

There's no need to bypass it. Electronic ignition works absolutely fine with ballasted coils, as long as you wire the EI supply to the right place. The only type that doesn't want it would be a programmed ignition with variable (closed loop) dwell, for which a quite specific coil is needed.

    thanks for the extra info.

I assumed from the context that ludwig meant you could buy a standard loom from, say, Rimmers or Canley or Fitchetts, but if you want any customization you'd have to do it yourself (and thus spoil the brand new loom). Buying from Autosparks, you can specify modifications, which they will incorporate "to factory quality".

yep exactly what i meant NM

  4. Hi all,
Can anyone give me some closeup shots of the part circled in the manual, as i seem to have lost mine when i cut them off the inner wheel arch......left and right hold the bar that goes across the top of the suspension hump. GT6 mk3. Or if anyone has a pair to sell, i'm interested. Cheers paul

  5. Ok folks, i need a new bonnet because i don't actually have one at the moment and i'm nearly at the paint stage.

I'm sure people will have good and bad thoughts when it comes to fibreglass or steel bonnets... but i'd like to hear all the viewpoints.

Obvious ones are the price and weight but does the lighter unit effect the handling good/bad, and how does it effect the weight bias of the car?

    cheers Paul

  6. Many years ago when mucking about with motorbikes i realized that just because they spark doesn't mean the engine likes them.

I had a VFR400(NC30) which was very fickle about which plugs you put in, it really didn't like Nippon Denso(oem) but loved NGK's.

I've had similar experiances with 2 stroke engines.

  7. Hi all,

Has anyone got a reliable weight for the gt6 engine (without gearbox) i've done a search across the web and it comes in anywhere between 165-401 kg !

The reason i'm asking is i'm about to buy an engine stand and don't want something flimsy, as it will be on the stand for several months.

    cheers paul
