Spitfire 1500 with overdrive gearbox into a 13/60

I am thinking of putting a 1500 engine with an overdrive gearbox into my 13/60. Do I need to make any adjustments to the gearbox tunnel, or will I need a Spitfire tunnel.

That makes a great car. I have done a couple, used them everyday for years.

Tunnel will fit, but you will need to cut the prop tunnel back a bit and make a plate to cover it, or find a plate from a  spitfire.

you need to cut the prop tunnel and make a  removable cover or you wont get at the prop nuts 

the actual tunnel should work  the gear lever hole may need a bit of change. 

you need all the OD support plate and mounts

I have sent Chic Doig an email asking about availability and price.

That may be a more expensive route but I can ask for all the associated parts which save a lot of time.

I have a shorter prop bought at Stafford many years ago

If either of you could let me know how much to cut that would be a great help.

the tunnel needs around 5"  to access the coupling     some use what they cut to make a cover  with a couple of  tap screws 

i seen one just part cut and folded open bent back when done

Wait until you get a gearbox. Mine is Spitfire 3-rail with j-type and required no cutting at all, only a shorter Vitesse prop.

Canley classics have propshaft lengths listed, but I would politely suggest that the cost difference between having a new prop made by dave mac may not be very different to having one shortened  new ujs and balanced. But you will still have a used sliding joint that may or may not cause vibration.
