Can a brass Y hose diverter be used on a fuel line?

Hi,

Can I safely utilise a suitably sized Y hose diverter on a fuel line? I’m looking for a simple way empty the tank without having to revert to disconnecting the hose from tank to filter on my TR6.

Thanks.

How often are you going to be emptying the fuel tank? For something so infrequent is it worth introducing another potential point of leakage not to mention modifying the fuel system from standard which might have insurance implications?

i would expect a brass  to out last any other jobs you might plan

its not going to disolve and you find the remains of a car in a pool of E10     jusy use E5 and sleep easy

which would be the better opption in a TR6    stick to 97+ ron E5  as most has no E in it anyway

if its the E youre worried about   or is it something else ???

Thanks Guys. I’m chasing the source of a fuel smell, changing components one by one. Draining is a pain and always messy so thinking I might insert a Y valve. I know much has been written on this site and the other one with some remarkable arrangements for draining and isolating fuel flow. However, as muted above, I want to keep things as original and as simple as possible. The filter and pump have already been moved into the boot which means there isn’t a great deal of room for further mods. Inserting a suitable valve in-line with existing hose routing has appeal.
