TC1
I need to replace the bush (16) in the photo taken from the workshop manual on both sides, i cannot find any instruction in the manual on best practice on how to go about it, my question is can it be done in situ or am i asking for trouble ? does the whole damper need to be removed just to replace this bush. ? NonMember
It's certainly a darned sight easier with the damper off the car, and since the bolt through that bush is the hard part of removing the damper, I'd always just do so.

johny
Pete, surely that bottom bush can be changed without separating the spring from the damper?
Peter Truman
Three spring pan bolts at the top, shock bottom eye bolt, I've always found the assembled shock/spring too long to rotate free of the top mounting plate in the turrant to get out easily. Removing the anti roll bar mount at the bottom might drop the bottom wishbone enough to free the spring/shock to swing vertical and lift out thro the top wishbone. Surely that's the only way to change either shocks or springs? I don't recall it being that hard when I did the Spitfire's.
