Broken boot strut bracket

Any idea where I can get a new bracket for my Herald 1200?

these are prone to fracture and you may get more life if you heat and bend a bit of decent steel strip DIY fashion

otherwise theres a few complete boot lids with brackets intact on ebay...

Presumably you have both bits so could be welded back together.

it does flex a lot and has a rather ropey rubber pad to help support the end on the boot panel 

 making a simple L bracket out of a decent bit of 3mm  plate will last better 

even more than the 50m yrs of the original

I've just checked mine and it's got a crack. The ropey rubber pad Pete Lewis mentions isn't touching the boot skin at all. I think I'll take it off and weld it back together in the first instance, and pack up the pad so it doesn't flex so much. @tchiggins I expect you've a local member who can weld it back together for you? It's not a difficult job.

I suppose its yanking the boot lid fully open that strains that bracket but then youve got to extend the support arm almost completely to get it to lock....
